RE: How Can I Most Efficiently Earn Vouchers Without Breaking The Bank? Growing Pains & New Cards Bought

Hi Matt

I didn't know you'd recently started with Splinterlands, good to see folks who have been on Steem/Hive a while taking an interest.

A quick one to start, I do have a second account but don't use it - just to collect the SPS it gives me for my staked SPT tokens. However, and especially if you plan to join a Guild and play and rent cards, it could be worth doing so. If this is an option, I would delegate cards I use to play to the account joining a guild, and then manage rentals off the other account. Something to think about for the future perhaps.

As far as the vouchers, I am inclined to agree with them being OK for this first phase, but potentially a bit restrictive for the next, even if 1 voucher = 2 packs (not sure this is the case). Hopefully there will come a time where vouchers aren't required, and new players can choose to dive in with sizeable pack purchases, without spending too much BTC :)

So with vouchers pretty pricy at around $14.50 right now, the other option is staking SPS. Using what I earn each day could give you an idea of a path forward.

This gives me a drop of around 650 SPS/day at present

This stake gives me about 40 SPS/day at present

The collection power comes from the cards - I'm not sure how to read this but i think they would cost $219k at current market prices.

The DEC pools, which I think works out to be about $24k at present.

So, not far of 10x less investment earns me about 40%(?) of my daily SPS drop...

How many vouchers for just over 30k staked though? 6.5/day currently, not quite enough for 200 packs (I have bought vouchers to top up to 200 though).

200 packs without SPS/Voucher drops =

$2.9k vouchers
$800 packs

Without delving too far into the math, it seems the best option for newer players is to buy a chunk of vouchers?

I'd like to buy 1000 packs, mainly for the title:

But yeah, $18.50 (voucher and pack), that's a sizable investment!

Not sure if i've helped any, good luck in your quest :)

Thanks for the calculations and advice. God, I'm so far behind! The voucher price has run up a bunch since, so I could simply secure a few packs around $8.20 on Hive-Engine, or just wait until the free-for-all when voucher-required purchases are lifted. Is it true that buying the Chaos packs on Hive-Engine removes the benefit of being eligible for airdrop cards in the rewards chests? Are these airdrop cards akin to the Promo cards from years past?
