It's usually a sign that things are bad when 10% of the workforce are let go, so 45% does sound like cause for concern. It's usually pretty disruptive too, losing so much talent in one go. Much better to ask if people are willing to lower their hours (and wages) by 20-25% and thereby save a few of their collegues. I know a lot of people who would gladly work less if they could afford it/were given the option, but 40-hour weeks are the norm. 3 day weekend, anyone? Or an extra hour of sleep in the morning and getting home before the rush hour?

I think other measures could have been taken before firing people. It's always hard for people to lose their jobs, but I guess if they've done it, it's because they think it's what's best for Splinterlands. Or so I hope.

I think if there is a business administrational need for it, it was the right decision. communication and timing however was not "the best", I think.

think of all the centralized exchanges who said they need to lay down staff and are now suspected of becoming non-liquid.

count @jdike in, please

Answer: I think it is strange because in a past town hall they said it was everything fine...

Firing a huge percentage of workforce at once is a cause of concern for many players..but as the management says, they did what they have to do to save the project...they are the ones having the hardest time of all.hope the decision they made turns out to be the best route they took..

Please count me in..

My answer to your most intriguing question:
I was quite taken aback by the size of the staff cuts, as 45% is almost half so suggests to me that Splinterlands management had a serious miscalculation on the length of the crypto downturn. I find that quite surprising since some commentators have been suggesting since the beginning of the year that we could see BTC fall to as low as $12k or even down to $7k. Just wonder where the contingency planning was at for worse-case scenario?

Count me in on your weekly giveaway again, please. Many thanks - Ian :)< @ianballantine
