Splinterlands SPS Governance is Live- I have voted the first Proposal

It always feels good when we are asked for opinions to bring something new or even to apply some changes. For example- in my office when I am asked for some suggestions or feedback then it makes me feel that I am an important part of the company and that my opinion matters. A similar thought process is applicable to SPS governance voting as well.

Governance tokens are designed in such a way that it gives the power to the community and they can either support or reject the proposal shared by the team. I think this is a new concept that was started with some DeFi projects and protocols and now it has come to the splinterland because it is also a growing community. It was anticipated that the governance voting will be live soon and finally the day has arrived when this has been launched and even the first proposal has been submitted by the splinterlands team.

Governance Voting

This proposal is to bring some changes in ranked battle rewards and I have voted using my SPS state for the first time. Currently, the proposal has been voted in favor by the community 88%, and 12% of people have voted against it. The requirement is to meet a minimum of 66% votes in favor of the proposal and now since it has reached 88% so the proposal has already been passed because the majority of the community has voted to support it.

There is an option to select the number of tokens for the vote and I have used all my state to do this. I currently hold almost 60000 in my account and these are locked tokens in the account. All this was the first ever proposal submitted by the splinterlands team but I am sure they will be many more proposers coming in the future and these will add more value to the game ecosystem. We can even see the people who have voted in favor or against the proposal.

This activity does not bring any monetary value to the holders but it is even more valuable than this because this way we can contribute to the growth of the gaming platform. Governance is one of the parts of any project that is a crucial role in further development and SPS is going to be a game changer here because more power is given to the community to vote on future proposals. Currently, the token price is very low and I am trying to accumulate as much as I can so that I reach my goal faster and because of this also I have changed my gaming strategy recently. I had used rental in the last season but in between SPS reward was announced so I have again started playing the game this season because I believe that I can earn a good amount of SPS tokens treasury ward and this is a reason why I changed.

SPS Buying Strategy

Talking about my SPS token holding I have achieved almost 60% of my goal and the remaining 40% I will be trying to complete within this year. I do admit that my growth has been a bit slow after the end of the airdrop but I will see if I can grab more to come in a go and the price goes lower which will be a kind of opportunity for me to buy a big chunk from the market. While the next edition of the pack is announced but more details are to be revealed however one thing is confirmed SPS will be one of the payment methods. I expect that this SPS token will have a price increase once the packs are launched so before the price goes up I want to buy more because I do not want to unlock my tokens just for the purchase of the next edition of packs. I would prefer to buy more to confirm to the market that I will utilize the liquid SPS to buy the packs instead of withdrawing from the holding because I don't think it's a good and wise decision and this is the reason why I am focusing more to buy and keep in liquid form.

I am also accumulating more vouchers because I expect that with the riftwatcher pack pre-sale, I can use my vouchers to get additional benefits or pack whatever will be the option that time. Lands are still under development but the mini packs are going to be the next excitement in the game.
