My first Chaos Legion Pack

Buying my first pack

I was watching a few videos of @cryptollamatv and @infidel1258 today and they discussed the price of Chaos Legion packs and pointed out, that the price really dropped.

So far I didn’t want to buy a pack. Since the packs you buy on Hive right now, don’t count for the presale airdrops, I wasn’t sure, if it was worth it to buy one pack, but I wasn’t really considering the worth of the pack for my SPS airdrops. Since I got some SPT, 1UP and my vouchers, as well as other tokens, I was thinking, that it won’t hurt. I am usually staking all my SPT and also started staking my 1UP, but I am still not sure, how to get some rewards there. So I staked around half of it and bought Swipe.Hive for the rest of it. I also transferred my 0,269 vouchers out of the game and exchanged it for Swipe.Hive as well. Together I had enough for my first Chaos Legion pack.

Yes, I won’t get the airdrops from this and I am also not getting any other benefits, but this pack will add to my SPS airdrop points and so I also can be part of the movement! 300 SPS airdrop points are pretty nice!

And maybe I am super lucky and there is a great card inside or CL Packs rise in price and I can sell it for a lot more in some months. If not, I didn’t loose a lot.

Transferring the pack into the game

image.png

Since I was sometimes buying SPS for Hive, which I got from different tokens, I knew how to transfer some SPS in. DEC works the same way, so you only need to click on the SPS box on top of the screen and then go to transfer and transfer those SPS into the game. I also once transferred some 0.02 vouchers out of the game, so that was also something I knew. But I never transferred packs in or out of the game. So this was a new experience for me.

I also haven’t been to the “Open” Window a lot, since there was nothing I could open. But finally I found a video from @clove71 in which she explained how to transfer Land Plots and Packs in and out of the game – I was just jealous when I saw the prices:

So you just go to the open window, click on convert at the CL packs and then put Hive Engine on select location. Then put in the number and click on deposit – and that’s it. CL pack is in the game and hopefully in time for the next SPS airdrop.

SPS, DEC and vouchers

As already mentioned, I sold my vouchers, to buy me a CL pack, so right now, my balance is at 0 vouchers. Since I was not going to be able to get enough vouchers to buy a pack, I think that this is the better route for me.

I am finally above 100 SPS, which is a big step in the right direction. As usual all my SPS are getting staked right away.

My DEC balance is, as my vouchers, usually just high enough to rent the cards in the morning to play at least in Silver 3. I am not sure, if it’s the right thing, but as soon as I have enough DEC I am spending them all on cards. So my collection power is over 9,000 points right now, which is also a big step in the right direction. I hope to get closer to 15,000 in this season, so that I can stay in Silver 3 without delegations and renting cards, but it is not gonna be easy and I right now I spend way more than I wanted into the game.

Special Thanks

Thanks to @foreveraverage for the delegations! Those card help a lot, especially to get my power to Silver III. I am still struggling most of the time to have enough power, since I usually rent out cards I am not playing, and then notice, that I need to rent back cards to have enough power.

Thanks to @rentaw03 and @drabs587 for the SPS and @aftersound for the DEC. Although I didn’t win any cards recently, at least I got some DEC I spent on cards and some SPS for the staking rewards.

Cheers, andy-plays

Congrats on your first pack, although I still think buying of Hive doesn't make sense right now. Other than knowing you will have a pack to open as soon as it's possible.

The 300 airdrop points are quite low.. why? Let's look at the math:

1 pack sells (atm) for $7.7 which is 9.25 (swap.)hive right now.

Swapping the hive for good ole dec would net you about 650 dec, which is more than double the airdrop points!! Guess you could still do that if you wanted :-)

Personally like to use beeswap for these sort of things, most of the time it's cheaper than selling/buying on engine:
https://beeswap.dcity.io/swap?input=SWAP.HIVE&output=DEC

If anything I'd like to get some packs from in-game but even that doesn't make sense right now, too much fomo. This explains it quite well:

Of course this is all subject to change when the market shifts, people change their minds etc. but right now waiting for the presale to end and just making a profit from the free vouchers makes the most sense to me :-)

Thanks for the reply @riandeuk
Yeah, I don't think that buying this pack was the best decision on a financial viewpoint. It probably also was a lot of fomo on my end. I also think, that until general sale, I am not going to buy more packs - but I hope to get some in general sale.
Also thanks for sharing that post of @kotenoke!

Thanks for the tip with beeswap. I never used it - and also can't remember if I heard about it before. Definitey gonna check this out. So far I was usually using leodex.io to exchange currencies.

Cheers, @andy-plays

You're welcome, in the long run any pack will be worth it. Soon as the set sells out the price will probably sky rocket like all sets before.. unless the player base shrinks instead of grows, which I don't see happening anytime soon.

Beeswap and tribaldex are nice alternatives to hive engine and leodex, all have their own UI and I use all for different reasons. But the swapping and diesel pools are easiest at beeswap and tribaldex in my opinion.

Beeswap is awesome, at 0.25% it is 1/4th the cost of withdrawing than the rest of HIVE. That said, they have liquidity problems so sometimes you won't be able to use them to withdraw, only deposit.

Thanks for the plug @riandeuk

No problem! Leodex.io has the same low rate, so when 1 of the two has low liquidity I try and use the other. Both have the problem from time to time although it seems to be less these days.
