Djinn Oshannus, still useful? - A Diary Of A Splinterlands Player #55 (EN/DE)

Djinn Oshannus

  • He is one of the cards that lost the most. Djinn Oshannus. In the old meta he was one of the best cards to use in the ever present water magic spam meta. The old king is lost its place. And he is really rarely seen anymore. Also his price and rental price did significantly drop. He was sometimes even at -90% in price. An yes, I lost a lot of money with this card.
    But is he just bad or does he still have a place in the meta? Here are a few battles, where he did his job:
  • Eine der Karten, die am meisten verloren hat war Djinn Oshannus. In der alten Meta war er eine der Karten, die in der Wasser Magie Meta ganz oben stand. Inzwischen hat er deutlich an Boden verloren und die Preise sind im Keller. Sowohl die Kauf-, als auch die Mietpreise sind ziemlich gefallen. Zeitweise um über 90%. Also ist es eher unwahrscheinlich, dass er sich in näherer Zukunft - wenn überhaupt jemals - wieder auf seine alten Preisniveaus zurückbewegt. Und ja, ich habe richtig Geld mit der Karte verloren.
    Aber ist er wirklich nur schlecht oder könnte dennoch einen Platz in der Meta haben Hier sind einige Kämpfe, in denen er ganz gut gearbeitet hat:

The conclusion

  • Yes, the usability of Djinn Oshannus has diminished. He can be use against magic together with Bortus, to have a lot of void. Other than that he is a nice tank, with a lot of HP. But for the mana cost, he is probably not worth it anymore. At least with the current meta. This definitely could change in the future.

  • Ja, er hat deutlich an Nützlichkeit verloren. Zwar ist er insbesondere mit Bortus immer noch eine Bank gegen magische Angriffe. Aber sonst ist er nur ein Tank mit hohen HP - aber für die hohe Manakosten kaum mehr wert eingesetzt zu werden. Zumindest in der aktuellen Meta, was sich in Zukunft aber wieder ändern könnte.

For me Djinn is still an absolute beast, due to the discount I bumped him to lvl 2 and is such a great fun when he starts evading also magic attacks. I often use him as my main water tank and in combo with venari wavesmith (another awesome reward card that is now super undervalued imho -> cheap to getting her to lvl 4) + a healer (I am looking at you Merdaali) they are super strong in silver. This combo will shine even more in the gold league.

Yeah, that sounds really great. Which summoner are you using with them? I also think that this could be a great combo and with those depressed prices a good time to buy. Although especially for Oshannus I am not sure, whether we reached the floor.
But yeah: With forcefield Oshannus is going to be even better. When all those big attacks get completely absorbed.
My main problem is, that I lack a good summoner - and leveled up summoners in general - to play with them.

I am using Vera (bought a lvl 4, lvl 3 and lvl 1 and then combined them to lvl 5), was the cheapest to get a few months back when I decided to go heavy in the game, plus my water deck was the best at the time (I was super lucky to get both Djinn and Venari Wavesmith soon after the new reward cards were out). Now I only need ~65k CP more to be able to use her in gold :D

Oh nice! Vera is quite a good summoner! Yeah, I can imagine, she was cheap for quite a while.
The CP takes really forever. I am right now at only around 22k owned power - so I will need another 78k to get to Gold III. If I am not getting really lucky and get a Gold Foil Legendary Gladius card, this will take forever. Even the Gold Foil Legendary Rewards and Chaos Legion cards don't add too much CP to the board.
Well, maybe this is going to change with modern format. Who knows.

That definitely could be. Not sure in which direction, but probably the newer cards get more expensive, since more players will probably play in modern format. But who knows 🤷‍♂

Ich habe einen aus einer täglichen Belohnung bekommen. Wenn ich als Alric geliehen hatte, war er dauerhaft im Spiel (alte Meta eben, die funktioniert noch sehr gut zumindest Bronze bis Silber). Aktuell habe ich keinen Alric geliehen (spiele Gold 3) und setze Oshannus trotzdem gelegentlich gerne ein.

Du Glücklicher! Hab noch nie was legendäres aus einer Belohnung oder Box bekommen. Irgendwann kommt das hoffentlich noch.
Ja, mit der alten Meta geht das sicher immer noch relativ solide.
Cool, also hat er auch bei anderen noch Verwendung, außer bei mir ;-)

Ich hab ihn mir damals auch gekauft (3 Stück für Level 2; Preis weiß ich leider nimmer) und hab dadurch auch einiges verloren... aber naja, kann man nix machen 🤧
Der einzige Vorteil ist, dass ich ihn jetzt billiger auf Level 3 bringen kann.
