Quora on The Wrong Rulesets

Hello Guys!
I'm back again with my Splinterlands post, and at the time, I want to take part in the Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. If my previous post, The Dangerous Gladius, Quora Towershead talking about how powerful Quora Towershead is, then in my writing I will now talk about Quora Towershead being used on rulesets that do not support. Not that Quora becomes weak, but if Quora Towershead is forced on unsupportive rulesets it can also be not as strong as it should be.

The battle I'll be sharing is a brawl battle when I face off against one of the Top Guild Global HD2 MARAUDERS OF CROM, Where to hear the name of the guild alone, I already feel inferior, hahaha. But it turned out that I could defeat him easily.

There are 2 Gladius used in this battle, namely Quora Towershead on the opposite side and Marisol Contuma on my team. These two Gladius are both Epic Gladius which both have their own specialties. Let's discuss more about these two Gladius.

Well guys, as you know I'm not a Proplayer nor am I a tournament hero, I'm just happy to share the battle strategy of the battle which I find interesting which might be a reference you can use if the monsters and rulesets in your battle support it.

QUORA TOWERSHEAD

Quora Towershead is an Epic Gladius card from earth element which has a fairly large mana of 10 but is comparable to the stats it has. Level 1 of this monster is active in Bloodbust and Heal abilities, and has an attack of 2 melee and 2 magic. The HP owned is also quite high, which is 11. It's no wonder that Quora Towershead is the favorite Glaius of many players.

STATS.png

I made Quora Towershead one of the favorite Gladius because gladius' greatness is unquestionable, even the winrate of the battle brawl I had increased after I got this Gladius. Although this is an Epic monster, it feels like a Legendary monster. In a small battle, especially on a fray with very limited cards, of course Quora Towershead is a monster that is very difficult to defeat, becoming an Unstopable monster if the Bloodust is active. But sometimes we have to be willing to use another Gladius if indeed the rulesets do not support it. If you insist on using Quora Towershead, this could be the biggest blunder that causes defeat.

MARISOL CONTUMA

STATS.png

Marisol Contuma is an Epic Gladius from the Life element with Melee attack type, with Reach and Bloodust abilities at level 1 of this monster. The special feature of this Gladius is that it has a high speed of 5 from level 1 to max level Gladius. Level 1 Gladius has 4 Melee attacks and 8 HP and 4 Armor, this is comparable to the mana capacity of 9. At level 4 Gladius will be active Inspire Ability and at max level will be active Trample ability. This monster is perfect for battles with Close Up battle, Super Sneak and Opportunity rulesets.

I think the weakness of this Gladius is that the HP it has is less large for monsters that have manacap 9 and will die from just a few Magic attacks. But after Grandmaster Rathe launches, this can be a solution to this problem. This is because the Grandmaster ability rate buffs +Armor, Void Armor, and Amplify so magic attacks will hit Armor first before hitting the HP of this monster.

Compared to Marisol Contuma, on the Life element I prefer to use Captain Katie for a battle with Gladius. But in certain situations, of course Marisol Contuma is also very useful and determines victory.

The Order of the Silver Shield has bestowed the rank of Knight onto no more than a dozen females in the hundreds of years of their reign. While there is no rule written in the Silver Shield Codex demanding that females not be considered as Knights, very few female Khymians would be able to pass the tests of endurance and sheer physical strength required to achieve the rank. Women can be priests, scholars, assassins, warriors, even Paladins (who act as generals to the Silver Shield armies), but most Khymian women with military aspirations do not attempt Knight. Marisol Contuma is a notable exception to this unwritten rule.

You can read about Marisol Contuma's Lore at Splinterland Lore

BATTLE PREPARATION

RULESETS

fray.png

This is a Brawl battle with Four22 as the host, with a fray limit of Novice Chaos Legion edition (only level 1 Chaos Legion monsters can be used) and Arena Tactic:

  • Arena Tactics Host guild always wins when there's a Draw. Host guild units attacks first in Ties.
  • Quora Towrshead was banished from the visiting Battle Mage's roster. They could not use this character when creating team.

rulesets.png

The rulesets in this battle are Counterspell (All Monsters have Magic Reflect ability) and Heavy Hitter (All Monsters have the Knock Out ability) with manacap 21 and elements active Earth, Life and Dragon.

2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHoNWhtk5r6VEyeaqM3SmTXSQrRQ3B3kzN15QwD3PxVrxjyaHnVW1EaaW8S4U6dAFvGTP5WYFR3a7aEFKVNmdaXqtNSmV3yMPEbbmQ3HGifniVB77eAS.png

LINE-UP AND STRATEGY

In this battle I used Summoner Grandmaster Rathe ysng has Amplify to utilize Counterspell rulesets. If the opponent uses a magic attack, the magic reflect received by kana increases. If the opponent uses Quora Towershead then this could be a weakness because in addition to melee Quora Towershead also has magic attacks. Using a defensive strategy with full melee attacks will be the best strategy I can apply in this battle. You can see the line-up and strategy of each monster from the table below:

MonsterPositionAbilityStrategy
grandmaster rathe.png Grandmaster RatheSummoner+1 Armor, Void Armor, AmplifyThe Best Summoner to making use of Counterspell rulesets because the Amplify ability is passed on to all monsters. +1 Armor and Void Armor will make the defense of the team stronger.
Bliding Reflector.png Blinding ReflectorFirst ( Tank)NoneMonster with mana 3 but has a pretty good Armor and HP, even though it only has speed 1. By receiving a buff from Grandmaster Rathe, the opponent's magic attack will not directly penetrate the HP, but will hit Armor first. This will make this monster last longer as a tank.
mar.png Marisol ContumaSecond (Attacker)Reach, BloodustThe main attacker in this battle, with 4 Melee attacks, who has Reach and Bloodust abilities. As you know, if the Bloodust ability is active, eating the stats that this monster has will increase. Compared to Cptain Katie, this Gladius is more suitable for these Counterspell rulesets.
soul Fiend.png Soul FiendThird ( Opportunity Tank)NoneMelee monster with mana 0, as a complement to meet the slots in the formation. I put this monster in third place as the target of the attack of the opportunity monster from the opposing side
Celestial Harpy.png Celestial HarpyFourth (Attacker)Flying, OpportunityAs an attacker, even though it only has 1 melee attacks, but this monster has the ability Opportunity whose target of attack from this monster is the monster that has the least HP. This monster has a decent speed, and has a Flying ability that increases the chances of miss
Gargoya Scrapper.png Gargoya ScrapperLast (Tank)NoneMelee monster at last position can't attack, but this is as a tank that is the target of attacks from the opponent's monster sneak

line up.png

The opponent uses the Obsidian Summoner which increases +1 Magic attack with the Quora Towershead in the first position, Spirit Hoarder in the second position and Queen Mycelia in the latest position. I don't know why the opponent actually uses full magic attacks on Counterspell rulesets. Isn't it tantamount to suicide? Every time they make an attack on their opponent, they also receive a reflection of their attack.

LET'S GO TO BATTLEFIELD

battle.png

You can directly click the image above to see this battle from the Splinterlands website. I also uploaded a video of this battle to youtube, you can watch it below:

(Unsupported https://youtu.be/tJyqed32VcA)

The match begins with the giving of buffs and debuffs from all monsters and Summoners. This battle also runs very quickly, which is completed in 3 rounds.

round1.png

Marisol Fortuma was the first Monster to get the chance to attack, followed by an attack from Quora Towershead. All opposing monsters that carry out attacks also get reflection magic, so the HP they have is running low even though it is still in the first round. At the end from the first round of my Blinding Reflector died.

round2.png

In the second Round, the two monster Gladius were both in the first position. Just like the first round, Marisol Fortuma became the first attacker of this round, and was immediately retaliated by Quora Towershead's attack. HP Quora Towershead was restored so that the HP owned went up again. Likewise a Spirit Hoarder, Restore HP due to Tiage ability. At the end of this round, Bloodust Marisol Fortuma was active because Queen Mycelia died due to Magic Reflection from Marisol Fortuma.

round3.png

The third round started with Quora Towershead who was defeated by Marisol Fortuma with just one strike. After that, Bloodust Marisol Fortuma returned to activity, his HP Speed and attack immediately increase.

end.png

This battle ended after Spirit Hoarder also died. I won with 4 monsters left and only lost 1 dead monster.

CONCLUTION

  • Quora Towershead is indeed very powerful, but if all battles are forced to use Quora Towershead without looking at the rulesets, this could be the biggest blunder.
  • Avoid using Magic monsters on Counterspell rulesets, as well as on Thorn rulesets then you must avoid using Melee monsters, and avoid using Range monsters on Rulesets return Fire.
  • Use Amplify monster to increase Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorn damage to all enemy monsters.
