Another brawl. My fifth one with gladiators. I have just drawn a new pack. In it one rare gladiator, which I did not have yet. Due to connection problems, I looked at the pack in the explorer at peakmosters.com.

So now Kotriphus Bayne joins my gladiators, all of whom I already showed in the post Legendary Gladiator and battle spirit last time.

Now I don't want to waste any time and get into my eight battles.

Battle 1

With 44 mana, no ranged, only water, earth, death. I have a second tab open with my deck, showing me only the three possible splitters. At 44 mana, I decide to use the Relenor Cleaver.

As summoner I choose Bortus, because I expect magic from the opponent in a game without ranged. With the previously selected gladiator with melee and reach, magic should not be that important to me.

In the team selection, I am undecided on the last row until my time runs out. So I quickly fill up the last row with hearts and do without another monster that attacks.

The battle is worth watching, even if the gladiator does not lick blood.

Battle 2

Again, I show only those gladiators that I can play. However, I notice that I didn't show neutrals in the first battle, so unfortunately Tatiana Blayde didn't make my selection despite 44 mana. Now with only 20 mana, this card is out of the question.

Because of the only 20 mana I decided for ... But in the end I sent my team before the opponent and therefore I will not show it here yet.

In hindsight: Okay, so Whistling Damon was my choice. First, I chose Jarlax the Undead as a summoner to save mana.

But then the Zintar Mortalis Summoner skill seemed more effective than wasting another mana on a monster. Needless to say, I was running out of time.

The Gladiator more than paid for itself! Important was my decision to give him a faster sniper to the side. Without the Close Range ruleset, however, it would have been a fiasco.

Battle 3

This time even only 15 mana, there is not much in question. Playable with little mana is Whistling Damon. Let's go!

Of course, Jarlax the Undead as a summoner to spend one more mana on monsters.

I select Death Elemental, another sniper.

And don't get into time trouble this time and push the Undead Priest into the second row as a buffer.

My opponent has a very similar team. I lose my tank pretty quickly. But the Gladiator easily makes up for that.

Battle 4

This time everything goes except water. 40 mana is not too little for a good selection of my gladiators. I decide for Captain Katie.

Again, it turns out later that I'm faster than my opponent, so I don't show my team yet.

In hindsight: I decided to use the legendary Chanseus the Great as a summoner, with the goal of healing the second row. At 40 mana, that is a minor consideration.

And it was in that second row that Captain Katie ultimately emerged. With the Divine Healer to heal the first row, the team should be able to withstand quite a bit.

That worked great at first! Looks good! But with four Legendaries in the opposing team, it soon looked quite different.

Battle 5

Again everything except water. Again the agony of choice. This time all melee are omitted. My favorite is again Captain Katie, but I finally decide on Liza Fox. She should get some serious bang for her buck.

And already the third fight where I'm faster than my opponent. So wait and see.

In hindsight: Since only ranged attacks are possible, I decide to use the summoner Owster Rotwell. (He could have been helpful in the previous fight, but I hadn't even seen that at the time).

My team can show itself. The small Venari Bonesmith between the other two shooters. Their speed is quite even, so let's see what happens.

The opponent turns out to be powerful. Now that the brawl is over, I can tell right away that I've failed against a favorite here.

In the end, we lost together with the guild by exactly one victory. My report on the brawl as a whole will follow in the next few days. So here I go with the rest of my rounds. Meanwhile I can promise, there are quite a few highlights.

Battle 6

This fight finally takes place immediately again. 16 mana is not much. However, with Equal Opportunity I don't like to use Ranged or Magic. So I decide to use the new Gladiator, even if 6 mana is relatively much. Eventually I'll find some suitable cards.

With the summoner I save one mana again.

With the favorite Haunted Spirit as a tank, there's still 3 mana left. So the Gremlin Blaster should do its job, which is an effective card in Opportunity. Adding the chicken as an opportunity buffer, because I also expect the opponent to hit those with weak health.

The opponent is only waiting with level 1 cards. The Gremlin Blaster will still manage two attacks, I can see that right away. And also to be seen even before the start is that the Gladiator is likely to go into a blood frenzy already in the first round. So go!!!

Oh no, a Magic Reflekt happens and everything turns out completely different!

Battle 7

Again a fight that is fought immediately. Hopefully the opponent has already waited! 40 mana is quite a lot. And with Melee Mayhem, this is definitely a case for my legendary gladiator Tatiana Blayde!

So I have free choice on the Splinter and will add another point of damage to all my attackers using Malric Inferno.

I had let most of the time pass in the preselection, but the team is easily assembled. There is even room for the chicken. It will bang hard!

With the Magic Reflect Summoner Owster Rotwell, the opponent achieves absolutely nothing with me in this ruleset. Maybe that will teach him a lesson.

Battle 8

Again 40 mana. I quickly decide again for Tatiana Blayde. The fact that she doesn't attack in the back with Melee might be my undoing. Should I have played Liza Fox?!

But the choice is made. Summoners have no effect, so I'll stick with Xander Foxwood. I've played Death so many times in this round.

The team is quickly found. There is no time pressure this time. My favorite in the second row is Rexxie, because it tramples better when the enemy tank is not quite fresh. Mana is easily enough for a Sandworm and lastly there is room for a self-healing Earth Elemental.

Der Gegner wartet mit doppelt "Stärkung" auf, hat hinten einen starken Tank mit Dornen, forne einen starken Tank und gut gedeckt in vorletzter Reihe einen recht kräftigen Opportunisten. Da das kann ja heiter werden!

The opponent comes up with double "strengthening", has a strong tank with thorns in the back, a strong tank in front and a quite strong opportunist in the penultimate row. That can become cheerful!

Very tense! I don't want to spoil anything! (I have the gladiator too far in front, because the opportunist always chooses the weakest up front on equal).

DEUTSCH

Wieder eine Rauferei. Meine fünfte mit Gladiatoren. Ein neues Pack habe ich grad gezogen. Darin ein seltener Gladiator, den ich noch nicht hatte. Aufgrund von Verbindungsproblemen, schaute ich mir das Pack im Explorer bei peakmosters.com an.

Kotriphus Bayne kommt nun also zu meinen Gladiatoren hinzu, die ich im Beitrag Legendärer Gladiator und Kampfgeist zuletzt alle schon zeigte.

Jetzt will ich keine Zeit verlieren und steige ein in meine acht Kämpfe.

Kampf 1

Mit 44 Mana, ohne Schuss, nur Wasser, Erde, Tod. Ich hab ein zweites Tab offen mit meinem Deck und lasse mir nur die drei möglichen Splinter anzeigen. Bei 44 Mana entscheide ich mich, den Relenor Cleaver zu verwenden.

Als Beschwörer wähle ich mir Bortus, da ich im Spiel ohne Schuss beim Gegner mit Magie rechne. Mit dem zuvor ausgewählten Gladiator mit Nahkampf und Reichweite soll mir selbst Magie nicht so wichtig sein.

Bei der Teamauswahl bin ich in der letzten Reihe unentschlossen, bis meine Zeit zuende geht. Ich fülle also die letzte Reihe grad noch schnell mit Herzen auf und verzichte auf ein weiteres Monster, das angreift.

Der Kampf kann sich sehen lassen, auch wenn der Gladiator kein Blut leckt.

Kampf 2

Erneut zeige ich mir nur jene Gladiatoren, die ich spielen kann. Mir fällt jedoch auf, dass ich mir Neutrale beim ersten Kampf nicht habe mit anzeigen lassen und Tatiana Blayde darum trotz 44 Mana leider nicht in meine Auswahl kam. Jetzt mit nur 20 Mana kommt diese Karte nicht in Frage.

Ich entschied aufgrund der nur 20 Mana darum für ... Doch letztlich sandte ich mein Team vor dem Gegner und werde es darum hier noch nicht zeigen.

Hinterher: Ok, Whistling Damon war also meine Wahl. Zunächst wählte ich Jarlax the Undead als Beschwörer, um Mana zu sparen.

Doch dann erschien mir die Fertigkeit des Zintar Mortalis Beschwörer effektiver als noch ein Mana für ein Monster zu verwerden. Die Zeit wurde mir dabei freilich knapp.

Der Gladiator zahlte sich mehr als aus! Wichtig war meine Entcheidung, ihm einen schnelleren Scharfschützen zur Seite zu geben. Ohne den Regelsatz "Close Range" (Nahschuss), wäre es jedoch ein Fiasko geworden.

Kampf 3

Diesmal gar nur 15 Mana, da kommt nicht viel in Frage. Spielbar mit wenig Mana ist Whistling Damon. Also los!

Selbstverständlich Jarlax the Undead als Beschwörer, um ein Mana mehr für Monster zu verwenden.

Ich wähle mir Death Elemental einen weiteren Scharfschützen aus.

Und komme diesmal nicht in Zeitnot und schiebe den Undead Priest noch als Puffer in die zweite Reihe.

Mein Gegner hat ein sehr ähnliches Team. Ich verliere ziemlich schnell meinen Tank. Doch der Gladiator macht das locker wett.

Kampf 4

Diesmal geht alles bis auf Wasser. 40 Mana ist nicht zu wenig für eine gute Auswahl meiner Gladiatoren. Ich entscheide mich für Captain Katie.

Auch hier stellt sich später heraus, dass ich schneller bin als mein Gegner, also zeige ich mein Team noch nicht.

Hinterher: Als Beschwörer entschied ich mich für den legendären Chanseus the Great, mit dem Ziel die zweite Reihe zu heilen. Bei 40 Mana fällt das nicht ins Gewicht.

Und in eben jener zweiten Reihe landete letztlich Captain Katie. Mit dem Divine Healer zur Heilung der ersten Reihe dürfte das Team einiges aushalten.

Das klappte zunächst auch gut! Kann sich sehen lassen! Doch mit vier Legendären im gegnerischen Team sah das dann bald ganz anders aus.

Kampf 5

Wieder alles ausser Wasser. Wieder die Qual der Wahl. Diesmal fallen alle Nahkampf weg. Mein Favorit ist erneut Captain Katie, doch ich entscheide mich schließlich für Liza Fox. Die dürfte ordendlich Bumms bekommen.

Und schon der dritte Kampf, bei dem ich schneller bin als mein Gegner. Also abwarten.

Hinterher: Da nur Fernangriffe möglich sind, entscheide ich mich für den Beschwörer Owster Rotwell. (Der hätte mir im vorherigen Kampf hilfreich sein können, doch den hatte ich zu der Zeit ja nicht mal gesehen.)

Mein Team kann sich sehen lassen. Den kleinen Venari Bonesmith zwischen die beiden anderen Schützen. Deren Tempo ist recht ausgeglichen, na mal sehen, was das wird.

Der Gegner entpuppt sich als mächtig. Jetzt, wo die Rauferei vorbei ist, kann ich sogleich sehen, dass ich hier gegen einen Favoriten gescheitert bin.

Letztlich unterlagen wir gemeinsam mit der Gilde um genau einen Sieg. Mein Bericht zur Rauferei im Ganzen wird in den nächsten Tagen folgen. Hier nun also weiter mit meinen übrigen Runden. Ich kann inzwischen versprechen, es sind noch ein paar Highlights dabei.

Kampf 6

Dieser Kampf findet endlich wieder sofort statt. 16 Mana sind nicht viel. Bei "Equal Opportunity" mag ich Schuss oder Magic jedoch nicht verwenden. Also entscheide ich mich für den neuen Gladiator, auch wenn 6 Mana relativ viel ist. Ich werde schon noch ein paar passende Karten finden.

Beim Beschwörer spare ich wieder ein Mana.

Mit dem beliebten Haunted Spirit als Tank bleiben noch 3 Mana übrig. Der Gremlin Blaster soll also seinen Dienst tun, das ist bei Opportunity eine effektive Karte. Noch das Huhn als Opportunity-Puffer, denn auch vom Gegner erwarte ich Treffer auf die schwachen Herzen.

Der Gegner wartet nur mit Level 1 Karten auf. Der Gremlin Blaster wird immerhin zwei Angriffe schaffen, das ist sofort zu sehen. Und auch schon vor Beginn zu sehen ist, dass der Gladiator schon in der ersten Runde in Blutrausch geraten dürfte. Also los!!

Ach nein, da passiert ein Magic Reflekt und alles kommt ganz anders!

Kampf 7

Wieder ein Kampf, der sofort ausgetragen wird. Der Gegner hat hoffentlich schon gewartet! 40 Mana sind relativ viel. Und bei "Melee Mayhem" ist das definitiv ein Fall für meinen legendären Gladiator Tatiana Blayde!

Ich habe also freie Wahl beim Splinter und werde mittels Malric Inferno allen meinen Angreifern noch einen Schadenspunkt hinzufügen.

Die meiste Zeit hatte ich in der Vorauswahl verstreichen lassen, doch das Team ist leicht zusammengestellt. Es ist sogar noch Platz für das Huhn. Es wird kräftig zuhauen!

Mit dem Magic Reflect Beschwörer Owster Rotwell erreicht der Gegner bei mir bei diesem Regelsatz rein gar nichts. Das wird ihm vielleicht eine Lehre sein.

Kampf 8

Erneut 40 Mana. Ich entscheide mich schnell wieder für Tatiana Blayde. Das diese hinten mit Melee nicht angreift, wird mir vielleicht noch zum Verhängnis. Hätte ich Liza Fox spielen sollen?!

Doch die Wahl ist getroffen. Summoner haben keine Wirkung, alse bleibe ich gleich bei Xander Foxwood. Tod hab ich so oft schon gespielt in diesem Durchgang.

Das Team ist schnell gefunden. Zeitnot gibt es diesmal nicht. Mein Favorit in zweiter Reihe ist Rexxie, denn der Trampelt besser, wenn der gegnerische Tank nicht ganz frisch ist. Mana reicht locker für einen Sandwurm und zuletzt ist noch Platz für einen selbstheilenden Earth Elemental.

Sehr spannend! Ich will gar nichts verraten!! (Den Gladiator hab ich zu weit vorne, denn der Opportunist sucht sich bei gleichen Werten den Schwächsten immer erst vorne aus.)
