BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge - Aim True

Hi everyone! It's time for the weekly battle challenge, and this week is the start of a new contest called Battle Mage Secrets. The first challenge of this contest is the Aim True Ruleset.

About the Ruleset

Aim True

The Aim True ruleset states that "Attacks always hit their targets", and it mainly applies to melee and ranged attacks as magic attacks doesn't usually miss. However, it does apply to magic attacks as well if a phased monster is used. This means that monsters with the Dodge, Flying or Phased abilities, or with a high speed stat that allows them to dodge, is basically ineffective in this ruleset, as attacks will always hit them.

Battle Ruleset(s)

As this is the first contest, I'm going to share a simple battle for this week. Details of this battle is as follows.

PositionNameDescription
1Cursed WindekuIt has 3 Melee attack, 10 Health and the Thorns ability, which makes it great as the main tank.
2Silent Sha-viWith 3 Melee attack, it's used to take out the backline first.
3Corpse FiendIt cost 0 mana, and is used to take the initial damage if the opponent uses a backline attack strategy.

Strategy

I mentioned earlier that Monsters with high speed are not effective in the sense that they are unable to dodge in this ruleset. However, a high speed will still provide a slight advantage to allow you to attack first.

Given the low mana cap, the Splinter restricted to just Death, and Thaddius Brood being the most likely the opponent's choice of summoner, I did not think that magic monsters will be effective in this battle. Ranged monsters also won't work as well with the low mana cap. As such, I settled on the Cursed Windeku as the main tank and a backline attack strategy using the Silent Sha-vi.

The opponent had the same idea as me. I won as I had 2 slight advantages over him. First, I had a level 3 Cursed Windeku that did 3 melee damage vs his level 2 one that does 2 damage. Second, I had the Corpse Fiend in the last position which slowed down his backline attack.

Thoughts on the Ruleset

As the ruleset allows all attacks to land, melee or ranged monsters with high attack power but low speed would be a good option for the battle, if the mana cost allows. This is because it would hit the opponent very hard given that attacks cannot be evaded. Of course, it will be even better if you have monsters with high speed and high attacks.

Another good strategy to use in this ruleset is to use a combination of summoners and monsters with the Amplify ability and some form of damage reflection, as this will provide some advantage over the opponent's attacks and hit them back hard as well.
