# Changed my whole tactic! - Splinter Stats Season 55 Report Card

Hi everyone!

Thanks for reading my end of season report card for Season 55... or at least this first sentence.

As I outlined in my Season 54 Report card I was changing my strategy.

I had spent time in the Gold League in order to try and get DEC winnings from the leaderboard and potentially from the tournaments of the lower levels.

It was definitely a successful strategy as my "Total Ranked Play Earnings" was the highest it's ever been. However, there we also downsides to this. Primarily the loss in the SPS Airdrop points for Champion Points (the ranked points you've achieved over 3700 at the end of the season multiplied by 10).

In Season 55 I played 420 games, the most by far that I've ever played, purely because I had to rise from the Silver 1 league to as high as I could get. The rise was interrupted by the server issues at the end of the season but that affected everyone pretty much equally.

I didn't get as high up the ladder as I would have liked. As a player that used to spend a lot of time in the Champion II leagues... the competition has gotten way tougher than it used to be. This is obviously to be expected with the explosion of new players.

I've personally found that speed is so crucial in the lower leagues. If you can hit first and hit fast, you should do well. This becomes less important in the higher leagues, as often the fast hitters also have low health, so if they don't kill their target they're likely dead very soon... or skills like Thorns, Reflect, Return Fire or even Protect become more prevalent.

So you can see that 3 of my Top 5 have some sort of speed adjustment for the time I spent in the Gold league... but I honestly don't use them as much in Diamond or Champion.

Nothing outlandish here... I think I was always pretty good with Earthquake but this season I started using Brighton Bloom and that just opened up the potential card usage like crazy. It's definitely not essential to have Flying cards for Earthquake... but if your deck and your opponents deck are pretty equal, it will be the differentiator.

Weak Magic usually means I get to play with Chanseus the Great - who I find so fun... but will get absolutely destroyed by Magic cards.

Summary

Last season I was in 30 tournaments and this season was 21.

This wasn't a result of my moving up through the leagues though, this was more due to the Splinterlands team not putting up as many tournaments as they sorted through server issues and managed upgrades to potentially incorporate SPS as rewards, etc.

This whole season was pretty disrupted so I don't want to rely on too much data from it. I won nearly double the DEC last season from tournaments... obviously it was easier for me to place higher in the lower level tournaments.

Absolutely significant difference in Loot Chest cards between last season and this season. DEC value in "Cards (Total)" was 1110 last season. This is 5090. Obviously Loot Chests are so much more plentiful in the daily quests in the higher leagues.

Captured DEC for Ranked Play Wins was 210 for 17151 last season in Gold versus more for less this season.

Total Ranked Play Rewards last season was my most ever at 27K... and now I've blown that out of the water again with 36K. Obviously the 27K wasn't as high as I would have liked, I only just missed out on a 4K higher Leaderboard DEC reward... but even without any chance of Leaderboard action in Diamond or Champion I earned way more DEC.

I think this was a good lesson and a good experiment and I'm glad I know now. For me, it's much more profitable, and much more fun to be as high up the ladder as I can... even if that means throwing out any chance of a leaderboard reward.

Love this new section. Obviously earning nearly 5K DEC in renting out cards that I have duplicates of is really exciting. I haven't rented out any gold cards even though I rarely use them... I really should put some thought into that.

I have put a bit of effort into making sure my rental prices are good... but not too good. I never have 100% rented and usually have about 150 daily-DEC-worth of cards sitting unrented... but it doesn't seem to be the same cards so I think that's fine.

SPS Report

TypeAmount Claimed

I've been doing my utmost best to earn as much SPS as I can... mainly because it will only be airdropped for a year but I'm sure the benefits will last for several years. This means I haven't been upgrading cards with won DEC like I used to... which is really a massive shame... but card prices have been so insane lately. I do wonder if card prices might drop significantly once Chaos Legion is released.... and demand moves from older cards to the newer ones? Or... will Land drive higher demand for older cards? I honestly have no idea. I'm happy to hoard DEC for the moment to increase my SPS airdrop points.

There is so much to be excited about with Splinterlands. I never thought I'd be dramatically more excited now than when I started playing... but here we are.

The lower leagues are tough. I spent some time today in Bronze playing an alt account and I had to work hard for those wins. I made it to Silver but only just made it. One loss and I'm back to Bronze.

If you look at the "Last Season" Leaderboards for Silver and Bronze, the numbers of games played by the top players are just huge. I can't play 600+ games... and yeah, a single loss can literally undo hours of progress at those levels. It's hardcore.

The good thing is that one lucky loot chest can make a huge difference to your collection and your game, so I thought there was a lot more excitement around the daily quest rewards personally.

Thanks!

Hey @kiokizz, I've been trying to generate a new end of season Splinterlands report and it keeps getting stuck at this bit...

image.png

Is there anything I can do to kick it along?

Unfortunately not - waiting a couple days to see if I hear anything regarding 80-90% of battles that are currently missing from the API calls used. An unrelated error is stopping the report from generating, though I am holding off pushing that fix until I hear back. I'll most likely need to temporarily remove the Match Performance sections until that is fixed as the data is effectively invalid 😦

There seemed to be a lot of errors around the place... and I thought the moving of battles away from the blockchain would affect your report. Just wanted to make sure you knew.

Hope it all works out... the Match Performance section is a huge loss, but obviously nothing can be done if the data isn't available. Thanks for everything you do with these reports!
