Rating current reward cards before they get outprinted - Life Summoner

One of my best Twitter accounts is Splinterlands. It keeps me informed about all the important news in the ecosystem and #Hive posting events like a media challenge. In my opinion, those challenges are an incredible way of increasing the pride of being part of this community, as every player shares his/her game experience with others, allowing others to learn about everyone's successes and mistakes. For this one, I will share about the summoner that in my opinion got the best current reward cards: Lifer. I will rate them and explain how can take profit them in combat. Hope you like it!

Always stay tuned to the Town-Halls

The announcement by the Executive Team that once the new reward soul bounded cards go live, current ones will stop being printed, no matter which minting percentage they are, made some of them skyrocket (even during the Town Hall) and reactivated the bearish market. Splinterlands has the power of making every one of us feel that we have not acquired enough assets. Maybe it's time to change the downtrend to a global rise in prices. What I am sure, of is that this new changes my whole strategy, and I will invest more money to complete my best teams (Life for today).

Life is life!

Every time I enter a Life army into the Splinterlands' battlefield I remember this wonderful song (Opus - Life is Life) and Maradona's warm-up against Bayern Munich in the 89 Uefa Cup. It makes me happy and I get amazed about how things can evolve in life. As a Bronze player, I hated life. I did not understand the army or the summoner and I thought it was the weakest. Today as a Diamond-Champion player, I love life summoner's reliability. It's a summoner that shines in low mana battles, does well in the mid-range, and has lots of high mana creatures. Your plan will always work as long as you control enemy damage and your healings/buffs absorb them. A great part of this evolution relies on the current reward cards. I show my tier for the current Life reward cards:

Maybe the S tier surprises some of my readers but I am in love with that creature. Every time I fit him as the main tank in a match, I know that I won't be melted by magic. Played with Rathe has a Divine shield and Magic armor, which means a minimum of two attempts (more if evading thanks to his great speed) on him. This should be enough for a two-mana card. but listen carefully: he has Magic Reflect. There are a ton of combats that this ability (amplified by Rathe again), has to lead me to the glory. He is the king of low mana battles as he allows you to save mana for other roles. Recent combat rules (thorns and fire n regret have even boosted more Rathe and Conjurer combo). It's how easy to fit and the return for such a low mana investment that turns him into an S tier for me.

I love vulguine. The first time I saw this creature I told myself: rubbish, won't use it. Also, we've got a low mana creature with scavenging, enrage and evade for two mana (if enraged in Diamond, he gets up to 5 attacks). Mastering combat conditions that allow him to attack placed 2nd to 6th like sneaking, melee mayhem, or opportunity, I also love him to place off-tank waiting for some casualties to charge a bit of health and hit the enemy tank hard. And that for a first bad dislike. That's why I rank A+ him.

If you take care of your Venari Crystalsmith, she will lead your army to victory. She has what the life summoner has supposed to easily get from his creatures: healing on the main tank. So simple, so useful. Never underestimate dispel, taking out enemy buffs on the creature she hits and 2 ranged is always welcome (always Sloan will boost her for an unpredicted damage output for support. Worth to mention that she is suitable for little league. Overall, an A creature.

Triage and Strengthen are not a joke. Triage (heals on position 2 to 6) works fantastic in most kinds of combat situations (there's always a sneaker, opportunity or sniper to be covered). Unsuspectfully useful in some combat situations like Noxious Fumes or Earquake, bringing the whole team increased survivability - added to strengthen. But listen, she's got 4 Magic damage. If your opponent does not predict Magic, he/she will regret it. I find myself in tons of combat playing her for the support abilities and getting carried to victory. S- for her! .

This guy is the bad boy of the school. He is the master of Sneaking, Melee Mayhem, and Opportunity combat rules. He masters so well in this combat situation that I always pick him if I can. Jared Scar can snowball a whole team if he begins to kill activating his bloodlust. True strike and Armor Piercing transforms him into the most reliable serial killer of Splinterlands. Also fits well for reverse speed. The announcement of stopping printing him in the last town hall boosted his price. Add him to your collection before is too late.

First battle: Snowballing with Jared

The first battle I bring is against a team with 2 of the best Chaos Legion cards: Runi and Doctor Blight. This game is not about the budget that you put into the battlefield. This game is about understanding the game mode that you are facing and building an army that fits it. For this one, I was facing a Gold match, 36 Mana Melee Mayhem. This is one of the best conditions for our bad boy Jared. Also, it's remarkable the presence of 4 reward cards: Pelacor Conjurer, Djinn Renova, Jared, and Venari Crystalsmith. Both armies looked like this:

image.png

  • In the first position I placed Pelacor Conjurer (and in 80% of my Life matches). Can't get more profit for two mana (maybe a shield reflector for three). But, as we said in this post this is a reward card! Flying increases his dodge chance, and the divine shield works fantastically for his survival.
  • For the second and third I built a Magic Buff / Debuff team with Renova and Time Mage. Renova brought her valuable +1 strength and covered possible back damage with her Triage and Mage brought Slow ( so valuable in gold as many creatures get their Speed buff/debuff on max level), and Rust to ease Jared and Disintegrator's hard work at the office.
  • Da bad boy Jared - take a look at his performance when he gets his first kill. Unstoppable.
  • Venari Crystalsmith always works great in melee mayhem as the main tank will get tons of focus for sure. Remarkable the -1 Damage dispelling tank.
  • Finally take a look at Disintegrator's first attack, trampling and taking 2 casualties in a row. Also a great move!

I leave you the entire battle here

Second battle: Vulguine rumbles low mana battles

For the second and last of this post, I bring you the king of low mana battles: Vulguine. The first rule of Vulguine, try to avoid first attacks (he should not focus on them at the beginning of battles). If so, he will load up life again and again for every casualty on the ground. If you face a low mana battle with the chance that melees can attack from second to sixth, he is your boy. I almost always go to Life creatures just to take him into battle. The battle looked like I show in the picture:

image.png

  • On the first position I placed Blinding Reflector (so curious that Pelacor Conjutrer's got such a great alternative for low mana combats and also low in mana). Blind is an OP ability that affects the whole combat increasing the dodge chance
  • For a second I place our beloved Wolverine. He loads up for every single casualty on the battlefield and enrages when loses health. Also with increased evading chance (added to blind). A headache for opponents. Considering that this was a 21-mana battle, Vulguine was my best option for off-tank. Also, the opportunity ruleset allowed him to attack.
  • Positions 3 and 5 were for two great sneak creatures (Dhampir and Uraeus - also rewards :). It's important to remark that the opportunity ruleset does not affect sneak (they will prefer their backlines targets).
  • I placed fourth in one of the best creatures in the whole Chaos legion set: Time mage. Rust n Slow + 3 magic damage with great speed is a must in low mana battles.
  • Finally Naga with such great speed and boosts global speed with +1. My global team speed modifier was +2 drawing my oponents.

Drawing my opponent's speed modifier (kelya begins with +1 vs Camila), and blinding n debuffing enemy creatures was the key to my victory. You will see how Vulguine loaded up his health. It was not required for him to unleash his fury to take the victory. I leave you the entire battle here. I would also like to remark that this battle was won with 4 rewards.

So it's time for all of us to load up those wonderful rewards before they get printed out! And you guyz? Which is your best summoner for rewards? My second is water and I am also thinking to write a similar post!
