Splinterlands could be a blockchain of its own
You might say that I am crazy and you might be right although I had few too many drinks today, I think that Splinterlands could be a blockchain of its own. Why am I saying this? Because there are so many things developed around it that a single blockchain can barely support it. It extended its tentacles to so many other blockchains and captured either users or value from those and I am speaking about HIVE, WAX, and of course BSC. The last one probably pushed everything to another dimension, while the others brought strong communities passionate for cryptocurrencies and NFTS. And having those users coming in, with a base understanding of the rules of the "game" assisted to exponential growth.
Why Splinterlands could be a blockchain of its own? Because it is not just a game, but rather so many other things around it. So let's see which are those.
- Splinterlands the Game is the one that provides you NFT assets like characters, lands, or potions and also gets you Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) which is the in-game currency and which you can use for buying or trading cards. That's an organic way to transact as you earn in the game and use DEC to get NFTs, but still, you could do that also through FIAT which is translated into CREDITS, and use them the same.
- SplinterTalk is the Game website, Wikipedia, or everything the mind can think about the Splinterlands realm and the hand can write about it. Well, also some videos can do the trick and as a result that you are rewarded with SPT tokens. These are HIVE second-layer cryptocurrencies and have a life of their own. But not limited to that as you are getting additional rewards for holding this and that is the SPS airdrop. And besides that the future might hold more things as these might be used for Splinterlands digital art NFTs (no in-game purpose, but mostly for collecting).
- Splinterlands Governance is the hottest thing at the moment and that is performed through Splintershards. Anyone could write a book about that, but I will only point you in the right direction to read it all and get answers to any question that you might have - https://sps.splinterlands.com/. And I must say that the team did a flawless execution in this regard through their decision of airdropping the SPS tokens to Game NFT/SPT holders and other sources for a whole year (365 days). This should protect the SPS from the initial dump that is usually associated with airdrops.
These are the three main directions that Splinterlands had as their base layers which ensure the exponential growth that they are experiencing at the moment. There are many other angles besides this like bridging to well-established blockchains and exchanged and the expansion towards WAX and BSC and ultimately Binance are the triggers for what we are seeing now. And who was with the game from the beginning has witness the solid grounds on which everything was built, the professional team around the project, and their continuous view towards doing things better and bigger. And it seems they achieved that, so I think nothing is impossible at this point, so why not translating to an own ecosystem and blockchain at some point? They start showing their financial strength as well and with the genius minds from there, nothing is impossible.

In some cases is more complex and layered up than the reality, I think they can still grow so much from here... And to have been with the game since its inception even if I bought in using a few hundred dollars and see where they've got today, hats off from me!

They could be but they are so tight into the HIVE ecosystem, I think they feel very much at home here. But maybe one day. It could be even beneficial for HIVE: First they pull in the masses via gamers and then they make room for other apps to clutter the HIVE blockchain with transactions.

That is very true, although they are a monster of a blockchain game and more in comparison with the others. HIVE is the perfect place for them to continue on growing and the same for other games that lie here along with others that might come or establish here as well. For sure this is boosting the entire ecosystem and maybe will see new stars shining soon.
