Splinterlands - Splintershards Delegation is preparing us for more use cases for the governance token

Splintershards is the governance token from Splinterlands and for the moment it doesn't have many use cases, which might be also the reason why this asset is priced so low at $0.024. Of course there are many other reasons contributing negatively to that like the huge supply and others, but I am not going into that as I've already voiced my concerns in other posts covering this. But one thing Splintershards $SPS is lacking is the use cases that it has in the game. Basically it is mostly used for Governance Voting on the DAO Treasury funds, but also that is limited and even if it is a driving force into a direction that the community can express itself, it is just not enough to give it value and demand.

  1. From the Splintershards Dashboard, we can now access a new option entitled "Manage Delegation".
  2. By pressing the button we are taken to a dedicated page where we can see the Outgoing, but also the Incoming Delegations.
  3. On the Outgoing Delegation view we have also the option to "Delegate".
  4. By pressing the button we are taken to another dedicated page where we can set the SPS Amount we want to Delegate and the Player towards which we are sending the delegated SPS.

This way, in case we use multiple accounts and hold SPS just on the main one (as I am doing), I will be able to Delegate to all of them in order to make use of it. One use case for SPS that was spoken about is to have a SPS requirement to access in a specific League where to earn rewards through Daily Chests and Season Chests. This is a strong use case as each account will require to hold SPS in order to be able to earn decent rewards. On top of that there is a statement regarding Delegation that we should consider.

Delegating to another Player will decrease your active Staked SPS amount and increase the active Staked SPS amount of the recipient. However, you will retain ownership of the SPS.
After delegating to a player you must wait 7 days before you can undelegate.

If I get this right, it means that the account that performs the Delegation will retain the ownership of the SPS and should receive the staking rewards. This is great as beside Delegating to your own accounts, we might see occurrences of Delegation to friends or other players as a way to incentivize them in case they don't hold enough to battle in an upper league.

Come and join the amazing world from the Splinterlands!

This is a very important step by splinterlands team to introduce the SPS delegation system. As they discussed, soon the collection power will be replaced by staked SPS count in order to play in a certain leagues, so in future delegating SPS to other players can also generate a good passive income. So, Let us just increase our staked SPS amount in meantime while waiting for the golden days. Great post ❤️

This is another good step for the game as we were seeing that the day the team was working hard and bringing something new. And as many of use cases are coming, we'll see prices go up in the near future. This way we delete HP people still here we will be able to delete SPS people's this is a great thing.

Also, a lotbof people are talking about SPS these days and I think it will be a very good investment.

I think it's a decent move forward but I still think there needs to be more uses for SPS. I think there are possibly some events or tournaments with a ton of SPS requirements so guilds could possibly use them.

Just maybe the splinterlands team is cooking something in the background to boost the uses cases for their game and the tokens.

However, it's a breathe of fresh air to see the delegation is soon going be a form of passive income for owners and players as a whole.

SPS Delegation is a nice addition but I believe that there should also be a market and once the CP is replaced by SPS then probably the team makes it. Definitely, this sounds like a great use case for SPS.
