Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - HAUNTED SPIDER
Hello friends, what's up?
Again I am here to talk about this amazing challenge that is the "Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge".
In this post I will talk about my battle with this monster, its ability, its status and a little bit of my experience.
This week's theme is "HAUNTED SPIDER".
This week's challenge is with a card that I don't have, in fact I don't have many cards🏃, only the spellbook cards, so I had to rent one for my battle.
On the market to rent there was a total of 1942 cards, which is a great offer, so I paid only 0.17 Dark Energy Crystal to perform the rental.
Haunted Spider is a common card that, at its level 1, has 2 life, 1 speed, and 2 ranged attack, and costs only 3 mana to participate in battle.
Its status, considering its small mana cost, makes it a good card for a team death strategy.
Unfortunately at level 1 Haunted Spider has no abilities, it only has the ability "poison" from level 4
My current battle status is 1,530 rating and I'm in the "Bronze II" league, so those are the characteristics of the Battle Weekly Challenge, and the battle rules was as follows:
In the last 5 battles my opponent has chosen the water element in all of them, so there was an enormous probability that he would do so in this battle.
He usually used the Spineback turtle (melee attack) as a tank, and the other mages behind, so I chose the sumonner "zintar mortalis" to reduce the damage of the Spineback turtle.
In the first position, for costing only 1 mana and resisting an attack, I chose the Cursed summeball
As a tank, because of my enemy's probable magic attack, I chose the Bone golem, which has the "void" ability to reduce magic damage.
In the third position I placed Venari Bonesmith to cause magical damage and to increase its life with its life leech ability, which increases its life according to the damage it has caused.
At last I placed the Haunted Spider for its ranged attack.
I have difficulties in battles using the death team, I usually don't get many victories and, against a probable water team and a lot of magic damage, with the cards I have it would be a difficult battle.
So the battle beggins.
Round 1:
As I suspected my opponent chose a magic team composed of Alric Stormbringer (summoner), albatross, medusa, Venari wavesmith, Ice pixie and Enchanted Pixie.
The round started as expected (with the attack against the cursed summeball) which didn't resist, bone golem going to the first position.
The Venari defeated my opponent's albatross, and the medusa came to the first position, which was attacked by the Haunted spider and the bone golem, being defeated then.
Round 2:
The first round was good for my team, but there were still 3 mages on his team and my bone golem with only 3 life.
So unfortunately the Bonem Golem ended up not resisting the 3 attacks and was defeated before it even attacked, with Venari Bonesmith coming in first.
The Haunted spider, to help, missed its attack on the Venari Wavesmith.
Round 3:
At round 3 I knew that the battle was over and there was not much that could be done, my team would be defeated.
But not too soon 💪
Only Venari Bonesmith was defeated in this round
Round 4:
Nothing to do, just watch the Haunted Spider being defeated by the Ice pixie attack
This is the end of the line for me.
As I said above I already knew it would be a difficult battle, because I don't usually use team death, as I usually lose, and a battle against a water team full of magic damage would certainly be very difficult.
I don't believe there was anything that could be done for me to win this battle with the cards I have, my opponent's Venari wavesmith made all the difference with its ability to grant +2 armor to his team.
I believe that without Venari wavesmith the outcome would have been different I would have won the battle.
What I can say, in the end, is that Haunted Spider is a good card with considerable status for the low mana cost that it has, and can certainly be adapted for various types of play.
