Hello my friends, how are you?

We are here again for another post about the "Battle Weekly Challenge" of Splinterlands.

This exciting weekly challenge always brings a good dose of excitement and is an amazing opportunity to share with the Splinterlands community a little bit of our vision of the game.

And here we go.

This week's theme is "CENTAURI MAGE".

Well, Centauri Mage is one of the cards that I have seriously considered purchasing with the Dark Energy Crystals I obtained during the game, however, since I haven't done so yet, I rent it to use in my earth team, usually for the small price of 0.10 DEC a day.

It is a card considered as "RARE", the thirteenth in circulation in the earth element market, and little used in bronze league.

Centauri Mage has 9 points of life, which makes it very tough, 1 point of magic damage, which is low, and 3 points of speed, which can be considered as a medium speed, and to participate in battle, it costs 7 mana.

The great thing about Centauri Mage is its standard ability (lvl 1 to 4) of Return Fire, so when Centauri Mage is attacked by a ranged monster, reduced damage is returned to the monster that attacked it, which is a good ability.

My current battle status is 1,306 rating and I'm in the "Bronze III" league, so those are the characteristics of the Battle Weekly Challenge, and the choice of battle rules was as follows:

My opponent's last 5 battles were with the Life team, so there was a high chance of facing this team in this battle.

Since many of the Life team's cards have melee damage attacks, and being the Earth team's Centauri Mage, I chose Mylor Crowling, which costs 3 mana, as summoner since it grants the throns ability to all my monsters in play.

The throns skill, in turn, causes the monster, when attacked with melle damage, to reflect damage to the monster that attacked it.

So, since it is a 15 mana battle, 10 of which are spent between Mylor and Centauri Mage, I divided the remaining 5 mana between: i) Failed Summoner, which I put in the first position because it only costs 2 mana and has 4 life, being able to reflect magic damage by its ability "magic Reflect" and melee damage before the Throns granted by Mylor and ii) Child of the Forest, which has 5 speed, thus aiming to defeat an enemy card as quickly as possible.

So the battle beggins.

Round 1:

As I had already suspected, the team chosen by my opponent was indeed the Life team and composed by Cocatrice, Truthspeaker, Enchanted Pixie and Peacebringer.

In the first Round my "Failed Summoner" was attacked, in order, by Truthspeaker, Cocatrice and Enchanted Pixie, causing the loss of their 4 life points, on the other hand it caused 2 Thorns damage to Cocatrice and 1 reflect damage to Enchanted Pixie, removing the opponent's Enchanted Pixie from the game.

Round 2:

Round 2 begins with Centauri Mage in first position, but with only 2 damage cards from my opponent, in this case, Cocatrice and Peacebringer.

Child of the forest attacked Truthspeaker and then Centauri Mage defeated Cocatrice with 1 magic damage, causing Truthspeaker to come to the first position of the team, Peacebringer attacked Centauri Mage causing 2 damage but with 1 damage reflection from Centauri Mage's Return Fire ability.

Round 3:

Round 3 begins well underway and with little chance of victory for my opponent, so much so that in the Centauri Mage's attack the Truthspeaker is defeated pulling the Peacebringer to the first position.

However, since Peacebringer is a ranged damage card and is in first position, it doesn't make any more attacks against my cards, so, from then, victory was already guaranteed.

The Earth element is the one I usually use in my battles, which even helped me to raise my rating to 1000, as I have already mentioned in another post. So I can say that I have more affinity with the earth element cards and I can easily build more competitive teams.

In this case, the Centauri Mage is a card that I like to use a lot and I have always rented it in the market, which has magic damage, although not very high, with a high amount of life.

In the battle described above, the Centauri Mage's magic damage contributed to the victory, especially because the Truthspeaker gave the opponent's monsters +2 shield.

I was successful, also, largely because I was able to predict the team chosen by my opponent, which was not very difficult since he had chosen the life team in his last 5 battles, facilitating the choice of cards and, above all, the summoner of my Earth team to help against melee damage.

Finally, what I can say is that Centauri Mage is a good card, adaptable for several types of battles, which, together with Mylor Crowling, ends up becoming a card that causes damage to melee and ranged enemies that attack it, so it proves to be very useful and strong for your game.
