I started back from scratch on Splinterlands. Selling my stacks before NFT's took off was probably my biggest mistake I have made in life since the ugly duckling I went out with in college now looks like a supermodel. I hold some bags in crypto but Monster cards were not even on my radar to keep for profit. I just enjoyed playing the game and opening my little treasure chests at the end of each season to see what was in store. The tourneys were good too. I was in the diamond league but the prizes at the time weren't great.

So now I am looking at Splinterlands from the gutter staring up at the stars. I feel like a property developer in 2009 during the great crash. Losing it all by being too greedy and now starting over renovating a bedsit. Starting out as a complete novice and I have made my way up to Bronze 3 because the players playing novice are only newcomers and they still don't know how to organise their cards in the right order. The quests only give you potions as prizes so there is no room here to grow or get more cards. I remember the days where you could get a card in these chests. DEC start getting paid out at bronze 2 but it is difficult unless you invest in cards and level them up to get to this milestone. Once you are at Bronze 2 then at least there is some way of earning DEC but what you get for a win is nominal. But I need to get to and remain in bronze 2 to keep earning this DEC . So to level up I first need a summoner that's level 2. Summoners are expensive. The cheapest level 2 summoner is €50 for example. When you get him , you need to build your team in that element so to stay in bronze 2 and compete for bronze 1 and silver. The fact of the matter is that you need a heavy investment. I'm going to convert some Hive to DEC from my posts to start buying slowly and making my way back up the ladder but it will be a slow slow process at the start. Renting cards is like renting houses. The landlords get richer and in the end the dec earned doesn't warrant the spend in the lower levels. The chaos cards cannot come quick enough so I will buy quite a few packs here so at least I can try and get up the ladder again this way but as a game at the moment Splinterlands has a barrier for entry. The new cards will be a welcome sight and these will soon become scarce as well. I think I have a window of opportunity here so I'm looking forward to the 8th December when I might have a chance to get out of that hole I'm in at the moment. But on the bright side it doesn't half hone in your ability with level ones. Every hit is vital so it's been a good arena for me to get to know the game again and even learn a few new skills. I'm gonna use this post rewards to kickstart my SPT career again.
