Furious Fried Chicken - Is it over for the chicken and the Cluckening?

Do you remember putting Creeping Ooze and Furious Chicken as the front line? I remember it like yesterday. The entire community had very strong opinions about this new, and strong, strategy. It was usually the higher ranks that made most of this strat. Some called it disgusting, some called it unsportsmanlike, some called it genius, but everyone tried it...and it worked!

A 0 mana "rare" card that could be played with any splinter. It was one of the most sought after cards in the game for a very long time. As a matter of fact, until 15 days back, this card also had one of the best yROA% among its peers. Just goes to show how good this card was.

Yes, WAS. Now it seems like it has more value fried in deep oil with batter and served in a bucket. Furious Fried Chicken style.

Every new drop has a huge impact on the market and some cards either rise in relevance or take a huge leap downwards and face first. As of now, the community has not yet reached a consensus on whether Chaos Legion is broken or balanced. But there is a good chance that it is more broken than balanced.

Within the presale we saw around 5 million cards enter the system and it is estimated that another 50-70 million will enter the system after the general sale. This will highly impact the supply and demand dynamics of ALL the cards.

Let's keep in mind that a card's ability and uniqueness weighs much more than supply and demand, first of all. If a rare card can do something better than a legendary card of the same stats, then all that the legendary provides is collection power, but not a higher value. But if a legendary card can do just as much, not exceeding, as a rare card can, then the rare card is obsolete.

The Fiends. A devastatingly powerful set of cards that came along the Chaos Legion cards. And they are legendary. I strongly believe they are still stuck in the "discovery zone". Their prices do not reflect their value at all.

They are exactly what Furious Chicken was, but better. A lot better. A far stronger pick for the frontline than the chicken. For starters, they all have either higher speeds or health points than the chicken. To add fuel to the fire, all of them have 1 melee at level 1. Back to the coop for the chicken, I guess?

It simply doesn't make sense to keep fangirling over Furious Chicken with the Fiends in the circulation now. They are far better at every level than the Furious Chicken and only "Lost Legendaries" is when the chicken can shine.
Even if they aren't neutral, at early levels they do just as much as the chicken in the front line and more.

The decision to collect Fiends over the Furious Chicken is profitable at all levels. Higher Collection Power means unlocking higher levels which is higher victory rewards and more end of season boxes, also more SPS drops which means more vouchers, also a better chance of getting a good sell price down the line.

Its a brain dead win.

The market stats aren't hopeless still. According to the number of available cards and cross referring to the number of total cards show a huge tendency to support the card. There is a huge fanbase of this card and the holders don't seem too eager to give up on the card yet.

To reach the utility level of the Fiends, the Furious Chicken would have to be levelled up to level 3 with BCX 5. That is when the Chicken gets its 1 melee damage but is still lagging in the speed and health point department.

Only at level 5, the Furious Chicken attains its first ability of "Enrage". But lets be honest, if you are going to play it in first position, it is really difficult to activate the ability without buffs or debuffs.

A quick look at the monthly history of the card's performance in the market exposes a different story compared to the story of cards available in the market. The Furious Chicken is in freefall. Freefall into batter, and then deep fried oil, then into the bucket.

It doesn't look good. At all.

Precisely 15-16 days ago the quantity of Furious Chickens sold has taken a massive and rather sharp hit. It is exactly when the Chaos Legion had dropped, and the Fiends came along.

It shows the market's growing tendency to forget about the Furious Chicken, and obviously, become more partial towards the better 0 mana legendary Fiends. You have to agree, they are better than the chicken.

The Cluckening Isn't Dead Yet

I am sticking with the benefit of the doubt. I am going all in on my opinion that the market isn't settled at all. The general sale will only begin the process of settling the market. A huge load of cards will join the circulation and we will start understanding setups and strategies including Chaos Legion.

This will shake the market up, more than it is shaken right now. We will begin to see new price trends and complete reversals too.

The uniqueness of being a 0 mana card has been stripped away from the Furious Chicken, but it is still a very, VERY good card to play with against most team comps.

I believe, once the market begins settling, the Fiends will become a popular choice and the prices will rise. But the Chicken will hold a very influential position and will also begin climbing again. Unless and until slot availability and mana limitations aren't an issue, the best combination can still be Creeping Ooze, Furious Chicken, and the Fiend of choice depending on the splinter.

Why use one 0 mana card, when you can use two?

I agree the new 0 mana cards are way better, If one can own them all then why even have a chicken besides the no legendary matches.

I always said this card was over prices at $50.

Without the legendaries, the $50 price tag was pretty okay for the chicken. The only 0 mana card that can be played as a tank. It has been a broken pick for a long time. But with the Fiends in circulation now, it stands on thin ice.

Yea... the new "zero" cards kind of spoiled all the chicken fun.
I am keeping all mine anyway.

I am keeping mine too. I am very confident that the card will hold value over time. Lets see how things turn out after the general sale.

Seeing people compare a 0 cost common to 0 cost legends like they are similar is confusing to me. The Golden Furious Chicken is still the most slept on card in Splinterlands and nothing in CL changed that IMHO

It is very easy to compare the rare to the legendaries. However, come general sale, I am predicting that the chicken will still be a favorite pick. Most possibly alongside the fiends.
