It has been a regular week for me in terms of playing Splinterlands. I've been diligently doing my daily focuses and getting about 10+ chests everyday. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten anything good out of them too 🤣. But it's ok, I believe in slowly taking small steps as long as I'm making progress. Every single bit of reward gained is a tiny bit of improvement in my account. 😁

Splinterlands itself has had HUGE news this week though. The Splinterlands team has been teasing everyone with BIG news for this week's Twnw Hall event and they haven't disappointed indeed 👏👍. The announcement of Rift Watchers presale AND the reveal of a brand new game - Splinterlands Tower Defense (also with it's presale) have sent shockwaves throughout the community! 😱

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 42nd consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. Of course, this also marks my 37th weekly giveaway! 🎉🥳🎊

After the previous week's End of Season, this week is pretty much just a regular week. Like I mentioned at the start, it was simply a matter of doing my daily focuses and collecting the rewards everyday.

Something of interest was the guild I'm in, PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish, finishing FIRST for this week's Guild Brawls! 🎉 Great work to all my guildmates. This is only the 2nd or 3rd time I've ever finished 1st with the guild. Hopefully, there will be a lot more of such achievements to come in the future.

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

Well is this the largest announcement since Chaos Legion was released? 🤣 I would think so. Rift Watchers, the latest expansion for Splinterlands has been announced and it's pre sale date set! 15th, 2022 2:00 PM ET / 18:00 UTC is the date of the presale and Sept. 27th, 2022 is it's estimated release date. 😱

This is so much sooner than I had expected!

Each pack will cost $5 in SPS and 1 Voucher, with a total of 500k packs for the presale qualifying for the promo card airdrop. 50 packs purchased will also guarantee you at least 1 promo card.

This is indeed tempting for me to buy that minimum 50 in order to secure such a card. However, the price is even higher than Chaos Legion which was already the most expensive edition to date. I'll have to carefully consider whether it will be worth it to buy those packs or just get the individual cards on the market. This is especially since holding packs no longer give any airdrop drops for the SPS airdrop like before too. 😭💸

Next up was the reveal of the mystery game they were developing. Splinterlands Tower Defense. The SPLTD pack pre-sale will be limited to 250,000 packs and is planned to start on September 20, 2022. It will end either when its sold out or when the date reaches October 18, 2022. 😱

The cost per pack will be $8, with players allowed to pay 1 voucher to offset $3 and 5000 DEC at the soft peg of 1000 DEC = $1.

It sounds really expensive at $8, but with the current DEC and Voucher prices, the true cost is probably about half. This feels more like a way to give DEC and Voucher more utility and to encourage their price to rise to their expected peg. 🤑

I'm on the fence about this new game though, mainly because there's no concrete release date yet. I do not really wish to find myself in a situation like Splinterlands Land which seems to have been stuck in limbo for years already. 😴

I love Splinterlands and I love TDs too, but this will be a pass at the moment for myself. Should there be a release date announced, it will completely change my opinion and I would probably get into it in some way or another. 😉

And now, for an update on the number of Chaos Legion packs sold thus far. About 29k sold since last week. That is an amazing sales figure! 😄

It looks like pack sales are definitely much higher than before when the SPS airdrop was still ongoing. Lots of players are probably buying these packs up with DEC earned from playing the game daily 🤑.

Here's the current count (as of the moment I'm writing this post) of the number of packs sold, and we're 101k away from the 10 million mark! Which also means everyone has a chance to get in now and grab more packs for the remaining airdrops! 😜

My fingers are crossed! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Hopefully I'll get some amazing luck for the next round! 🍀🍀🍀
