Unforgettable Untamed: Failure Is Not The End

I can easily identify myself as a Failed Summoner after the Terra crash and other crypto-related catastrophes. I've learned from my failures and just like the Failed Summoner, I've always bounced back. In this Splinterlands post, we are going to take a closer look at what makes him such a great monster.

What most perfectly describes just how good the Failed Summoner can be I got this example BATTLE for you to watch.

This is from yesterday when I had my focus on the Earth splinter. Rules included the Equalizer and Spreading Fury. The maximum mana to be used was 34 with four splinters to choose from. Based on my opponent's battle history, I was pretty sure that he or she would go with Earth and also with the emphasis on magic.

Opponent's Team

And yes, my opponent indeed chose three magic monsters! This should be fun. Also, there is Mycelic infantry as a tank, that's the one I would usually choose too. Our hero of the day can also be found on the enemy team but he is positioned in the middle for some reason.

All golden team also includes Mycelic Morphoid with Thorns which is a pretty good idea and Mycelic Slipspawn that my units will target because of its Taunt ability.

My Team

Today's summoner is a rented Obsidian. For her to be on level 4 is just optimal for some of my monsters and to get their best abilities to work.

Here he is, this is the moment to shine! My goal is to keep Failed Summoner alive as long as I can so he could use his Magic Shield ability to whither down the opponent's magic monsters. To let him do that I had chosen two healers for the job but more of that later.

Mycelic Infantry is a bulky tank monster that in this battle happens to hold the second spot. It would offer a lot of protection and also plenty of attack power if the Failed Summoner should fall.

On the third spot, we have Regal Peryton. If the battle should go tight and Regal would have to take the lead, it would perhaps be able to dodge the enemy attacks because of its speed and Flying ability.

)

Healing units usually carry a pretty low amount of health and therefore can become easy targets. However, with the Equalizer ruleset I think it's a good idea to bring even two healers on the field since they'll have as much health as the monster with the largest amount and therefore won't be sniped out that easily.

The main reason for two healers is of course to prolong the lifespan of our tank monster which today happens to be the Failed One. To take this idea even further, I chose Mushroom Seer to reduce enemy magic attacks with its Silence ability.

If our opponent should also have some healing ideas, well, sadly our Goblin Psychic GF version is now upgraded to level 4. This means that he now has the Affliction ability which can prevent the enemy tanks from healing. How cool is that?

Here she is, our second tank healer, Wood Nymph wouldn't normally be my choice for the last spot but since she also has 11 health points it's as good as any place.

How Did The Failed Summoner Do?

If you didn't watch the battle before, here it is again. As you might have expected, my units began to attack Mycelic Splispawn while the opponent monsters targeted the Failed Summoner. But he fought back. Hard.

Slipspawn gone and other enemy magic monsters losing health because of Failed Summoner's reflections as we advance to Round 3. The enraged enemy tank takes a big chunk of Failed Summoner's health before it was played out.

Despite aggressive healing, our hero was finally dropped by the Mycelic Morphoid in Round 4. Right after that Morphoid itself perished and the opponent's Failed Summoner stepped in. Facing enraged Mycelic Infantry and the rest of my monsters, he too had had enough. With only two withered-down monsters against four of mine in good health, the game was over.

So what about the Failed One? He really put on one heck of a show and proved that failure is definitely not the end of the world. Well, in this case, it was for him but who wouldn't take one for the team, right?

Final Thoughts

Failed Summoner is such a useful monster. Costing only 2 mana it is perfect for low mana battles to surprise your opponent, or it can be used in higher mana battles like the one I presented.

This Untamed card will also have useful abilities such as Demoralize and Strengthen on higher levels. At the moment its lowest market price is $1.68 which is pretty cheap in my opinion. He may have failed as a summoner but definitely not as a monster!

Thank you for reading!

I had a look in the mirror today and I almost saw it written on my forehead "Failed Summoner"
, especially after you reminded me of the Terra spectacle! 😭 Thanks for reminding me! 😁
