Furious Chicken - The Road To Freedom

It was a cold and windy night, and the journey has been long, but it is also far from over. The lone chicken tufts up his feathers and takes another step into the stabbing wind, knowing that he would have to find shelter for the night soon.

It was not long before he came across a great big oak, slightly off the path with a cosy hollow at the base of the stem. ‘I will settle here for the night’ he thought to himself as he made himself comfortable. He settled down and for the moment he was grateful to be out of the grasping claws of the icy wind and the brutal night air.

He grabbed seeds from his satchel and ate his fill, then drank some water from his flask before getting ready to turn in for the night, but before he fell asleep, he allowed his mind to wonder back to days of past...

He could still recall his mother and father lovingly watching over them when he was just a mere hatch-ling of a few days old, foolishly chasing worms with his siblings, life was care free and wild. A cold hard contrast to what his life had become over time. As he grew into a strapping young rooster, there was no doubt that he would one day follow in his fathers footsteps and become the guardian of the roost. And his father certainly wanted nothing more from his son, than him filling that role.

But all of this was about to change. One bright Spring morning, he left for the market to run some errands for his mother, as he often did, and upon returning he found that his entire family along with the others in the roost had been violently slaughtered at the hands of the evil Colonel, in a heinous display of military power. The young chicks life was turned upside down in that moment, as the grief and despair overcame him. That day he walked away from everything he had known, aimlessly wondering the fields and hills as he moved further and further away from a place that he once called home.

Months passed without purpose, until one day the young rooster was found by a passing convoy of slave traders, who then captured the young rooster and sold him off to the highest bidder at the cock fight arena. It was then that something awakened within the rooster. Something bitter, something vengeful, something furious!
He knew that if he ever wanted to avenge the murder of his family as well as all of those in his village, that he would have to survive, and in order to survive he would have to fight.

The young rooster now only known as Furious Chicken fought his way up the ranks in the arena, never knowing if the fight he would enter would be his last as every battle was a battle to the death. And with new slaves arriving every day to fight, he realised that he would live and die in the arena if he did not find a way to break free.
Years passed until the undefeated champion finally managed to escape the clutches of his captors by breaking free of his chains and setting free the other prisoners, fighting their way past the guards. But Furious Chicken knew that he would have to take out the leader of the arena in order to put a stop to this once and for all – or they would never be truly free.

So he set after Asil Maximus, the one behind the cock-fighting games, and vigorously fought his way through his personal guards, before strangling Asil with his bare talons.

The prisoners were finally free, and Furious Chicken had gained the trust and respect of all his fellow slaves. They pleaded with him to join them and become their ruler – but Furious chicken had other plans...

And so he set off to Find the Colonel!

Little did he know – that the great big oak that he found his solace in, was situated in the heart of the Splinterlands
