What to do with post earnings 😱

I'm going to be talking about the 3 main types of earnings from posting, explaining what they are and what you can do with them.

  • SPT
  • HP
  • HBD
#1 SPT

When writing a post and using the hashtag #SPT the post will pay you out 50% of the earnings in SPT, this does not take away from other earnings so theres really no reason not to do it.

To see how much SPT you are going to be rewarded you can login to your profile on splintertalk.io.

SPT counts towards the SPS airdrop, for every 4 SPT you get 1 airdrop point and the effects for a new player can be huge. It is likely that SPT will be a big contribution to your airdrop rewards. As you can see it accounts for a third of mine.

Once it is earned you have two main options for your SPT

Whether or not you stake your SPT it will still count towards your airdrop.

This is why I recommend staking them or not selling them on the market, If you are looking to trade them on the market for other crypto or cash you can also do that.

The value of one SPT is approximately .5 cents for every 1 SPT token.

#2 HP

Hive Power is piece of what you will earn for all your posts split with HBD. In its simplest form, it gives you more voting power as well as more RC. This is extremely important as RC allows you to perform in game actions as well as post and interact with other posts.

I personally post on peakd.com but you can see the breakdown of a post earnings split between HP and HBD on hive.blog as once again you get 50% of the total.

In your wallet you can see the total amount of HP which you could power down to hive but for the sake of how important RC is as I mentioned earlier I suggest leaving lots of HP.

In order to see the impact of this on your RC and best track your usage I like to use hiveblocks.

#3 HBD

Hive backed dollars is the other component of the rewards mentioned earlier. The main purpose of this is value, each HBD currently sits around...

These will show up in your wallet the same as the HP and SPT

Your options are; to remove it and transfer it out to get the $ value, leave it in the account, or add it to savings to earn interest on the amount.

Currently I have yet to take advantage of savings as I intend to keep posting and grow my HBD pool so that when I withdraw it will have a greater impact.

I hope this has been helpful, I am still figuring out the processes for myself but thought I'd share what I have learned to help anyone who might be struggling.
