Splinterlands Brawl Report and Revamping the Let it Ride Giveaway

Sharing my fourth Brawl results with The Calzones and refreshing the Let it Ride Giveaway

🐲 Brawl Report 🐲

This was a big Brawl for the Pizza 420 crew. We had donated enough DEC to build our level two store, we just needed one more crown to complete the purchase. After that Gladius packs will be available. I've settled into my new home at the Bronze Chaos only fray, and I'm working my collection up to be able to fight at Silver level in the hopefully not too distant future. This time around I was set up for six battles.

Thaddius v Obsidian — What a way to start the Brawl, with Noxious Fumes and Earthquake rulesets. The pair of rulesets I hate to love. When these rules are paired it isn't going to be a long battle, but it can be fun to watch, particularly if you are on the winning side.Win (1-0)

Kelya v Obsidian — I thought I was in trouble when I saw Obsidian come up against my Kelya. I don't have a good record of Kelya up against magic heavy teams. Her armor buff becomes less useful. Thankfully I used Void Armor up front and my opponent didn't go magic heavy. Thanks to resurrect, I walked away with no losses! Win(2-0)

Kelya v Quix — Another example of the battle loading and me thinking I was in trouble. My opponent had double-double strike, all hidden behind a tank and Demoralize! Thankfully I used Triage with the Super Sneak ruleset and had enough magic damage dealers to bypass my opponents armor Win (3-0)

Kelya v Obsidain — It's hard to hit a card with nine speed 🤣 I could have had a better option by moving Xenith to the back, but it still would not have added much of a percentage increase to my chance of victory. I studied this battle for quite a while on Splintertools and the only team I came up with that stood a chance was Quix with Djinn Chwala up front.Loss (3-1)

Thaddius v Obsisian — Sha-Vi was the MVP. I was worried that Regal Peryton's high speed was again going to spell my doom, but I had enough chances this time to overcome the speed disadvantage, plus my opponent didn't have enrage to get the speed up to nine 🤣 Win (4-1)

🎈🎈 Five and one. One of these days I will go undefeated, but I am ecstatic with the five and one record. I have been having a tough go the first two days of the new season, so this is a nice confidence boost that I have some idea what I'm doing 😀🎈🎈

We came into this Brawl needing the bare minimum to upgrade our Store. Well, we crushed it with 41 wins and a total of 123 points. There was some tough guilds this time around but we nailed it. We received the one crown we needed plus 12 more to start working on the Barracks.

Gladius packs are now available and after getting the beat down from several Gladiator cards it is going to be fun to see how the new cards will help our teams's performance. When the Gladiator cards get going, and the Bloodlust ability activates, they can be an unstoppable force.

Let it Ride Giveaway Update

I have finally come up with a new giveaway approach and I'm excited to launch it and see how the new system is received. I am still learning the nuances of Splinterlands and two items that I need to get better at doing is studying the best players battles and having a deeper understanding of the rulesets and what cards and strategies work with each.

I came across @vasupi running a giveaway that can help strengthen my knowledge of both of these. (vasupi I hope you don't mind the ping or the use of a similar giveaway scheme) Note, I am terrible at guessing the rulesets which is part of the reason I know I need more work on learning the ins and outs.

The basic idea is I am going to choose a battle from some of the top players, hide the ruleset(s) and names, and ask you to guess the ruleset(s) for a chance to enter the drawing. I'm terrible at this myself so I'm going to give an entry for each correct guess as well as offer a bonus entry if you can guess who won the battle.

My hope is that I will be forced to learn more by digging into the top players battles and how the rulesets determine what cards they play.

Here We Go, Finally the Actual Giveaway 😀

I know that was a lot to get through to get to the giveaway, but hopefully it will be worth your time. Let me lay out the rules.

• Below is a screen shot of a match in which I've crossed out the ruelsets. The screenshot was taken after the buffs and debuffs were applied, but before any attacks were made.

• There were two rulesets for this match. You can only make two guesses, and for each correct guess you will be given an entry into the draw.

• A bonus entry will be given if you pick the battle winner (Peakrider or Valnamor)

• The only hint I will be giving each week is the monster that attacked first. In this case the first attack was made by Water Elemental.

What Can You Win

I want to keep the spirit of my original let it ride giveaway, while hopefully encouraging more engagement. So, there are still two options, you must choose one. You can choose to take a card or let it ride and I will offer the chance the following week for the choice of one epic Chaos Legion card. Taking this option will not leave you empty handed. Any winner choosing to push their luck will be given two entries into the epic giveaway (without having to guess the correct rulesets) as well as 5 PIZZA tokens 🍕
