Here I am with a new blog for our favorite SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge by Splinterlands and the monster which got featured is a magic monster I don't use much because of other high profile monsters I have.
But, as part of this weekly challenge, here I am presenting to you a blog on a battle involving Centauri Mage as one of the monsters used in the battle as that is the theme monster for this week.

Centauri Mage is an Earth Splinter rare category magic attack monster from rewards cards category and this is useful with it's fire throw when a ranged attack monster attacks it and it also has repair ability to repair the armors if any a monster has.
This is also useful with it's 2 magic attack and has good health.

Let's see the stats for this monster with details of attack, speed, health and abilities as well.

Attack:

This monster being a magic attack monster, starts with 1 attack, and increases it's attack to 2 when it is leveled up to level 3 with 14 cards combined and reaches a maximum of 3 attack in the final level which is level 8 and that requires 115 cards to be combined.
As of now, this monster I think is out of print and if we have to level it up, we have to get the cards from Secondary market.

Speed:

It starts with 3 speed and can attain a maximum of 4 speed from level 7.

Health:

Health is the best part of this monster as it starts with 9 health and it keeps increasing and decreasing as and when it gets a new ability or other attributes change as we can see from above screenshot.

Abilities:

This monster has 2 useful abilities in return fire which throws back fire when a ranged attack monster attacks it and it also has another ability of repair to repair the armors of a friendly monster if any in each round.

Battle and Lineup:

So, this battle was with huge MANA cap of 50 with Aim True(melee and ranged attack monsters always hit their target) and Spreading Fury (which enrages all friendly monsters upon a attack) as the rule sets.
Since the MANA cap was huge and theme monster being from Earth splinter, I used Scarred Llama Mage as the summoner to have +2 health, cleaning ability along with last stand monster ability and the lineup I used was as below:

Lineup:

1. Nectar Queen:

Used this as it has good attack, speed, health and even abilities like retaliate and flying which will make it more better option as a front monster and to add to that, there was enrage from the rule set as well.

2. Orc Sergeant:

Whenever I sue earth splinter, I will have this inspire ability monster to increase the melee attack of friendly monsters and this monster itself has good attack and health.

3. Centauri Mage:

The theme monster was used in Third position as this can return fire when a ranged attack monster targets it and since I used Spirit of the Forest, there will be 2 armors and this monster can repair to rebuild those armors whenever those gets removed.

4. Spirit of the Forest:

A tank healer, this monster is also useful to get those armors, and this keeps attacking the First ranged/magic attack* monster from opponent's lineup.

5. Mitica Headhunter:

50 MANA cap allowed me to use this monster and this is something with huge ranged attack of 5 and is among fast attackers since it has speed of 5.

6. Javelin Thrower:

Lastly, I used another ranged attack monster in Javelin Thrower and this also is with good attack and speed of 6 and it can even pierce the armors to even reduce main health.

Opponent used Water Splinter with monsters Frost Giant, Sand Worm, Phantom of the Abyss, Ruler of the Seas, Spirit Miner and Poseidon.

Battle:

This was one of those battles I will remember for a long time for the way I won this battle even after having lesser statistic monsters compared to what opponent had used.
Let's see round by round details:

Round 1:

Opponent's monsters were all with 4 or more attack except for Spirit Miner and monsters on my side were of lesser attack as combined attack of 24 by opponent as against the attack of 18 by me, but enrage was there to increase these stats for both of us.
The battle started with opponent's monsters taking out my front 2 monsters in Nectar Queen and Orc Sergeant thru the trample attack from Frost Giant, but the good thing was, opponent lost the Frost Giant just before the First round got finished.

Round 2:

First round was disadvantageous to me with 2 of my monsters getting removed.
But, in this round it was the reverse with opponent losing out 2 of his monsters in Sand Worm and Phantom of the Abyss and make the battle even until round 2.

Round 3:

It was even stevens in this round as both of us lost a monster each.
While opponent lost Rule of the Seas, I lost the theme monster of Centauri Mage.

Round 4:

With only ranged attack monsters left for me, Spirit of the Forest couldn't attack being at First position and Mitica Headhunter and Javelin Thrower kept attacking to keep the battle active for me.

Round 5 to 8:

While it all needed just 1 blow to remove Spirit Miner, the last monster for opponent Poseidon as a ranged attack monster, the battle was over in round 6, but it took 2 more rounds to remove Poseidon and by Eighth round, I could win the battle.

Questions and Answers:

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

Well, it was a tough one inspite of using Scarred Llama Mage because opponent had used Water Splinter monsters and winning against them was a great relief for me.
While that was the win for me, if I have to try differently, then I could have used another melee or magic attack monster instead of Javelin Thrower or Mitica Headhunter, but I could have ended up on losing side as bot the monsters I mentioned contributed a lot in this win for me.

Do I like the CENTAURI MAGE? Why or why not?

I do like it, but the other monsters I have are something which balances a lot about my lineup since I go melee attack heavy whenever I use Earth splinter and I use 2 ranged attack monsters I used in this battle as well and that doesn't give space for me using Centauri Mage much.

Line.jpg

That was a great match and I had some scary moments as another blow to Mitica Headhunter would have knocked me out from the battle, but that wasn't the case and I won the cliffhanger battle in the end!!!!!
I hope you too enjoyed going thru this battle and enjoyed reading this content.

Thanks and Have a good day :)

Great win and great post.

I find it hard also to put some cards in my lineups, not because they are not good but because I have cards that play well together that I use most of the time.

I have been finding more use for high health cards lately though and the centaur mage is one of those cards that could potentially fit my ever changing lineup.

The centaurs return fire ability has the potential to be lethal if used correctly.

Very true.

Although I too don't use Centauri Mage much, but it will be a good option if we can see that opponent is using too much of Yodin Zaku as Centauri Mage will be great weapon with return fire and repair abilities.

Happy battling my friend :)
