A new blog from me in this new year 2022!!! Wishing you all a great year ahead with lots of love, happiness, earning opportunities and everything!!!
Here comes my Splinterlands blog in this new year with a blog for Splinterlands SHARE YOUR BATTLE Challenge with theme monster being the Spineback Turtle from Alpha and Beta versions.

As i mentioned, this Water Splinter monster is from Alpha and Beta editions and it's a Common category monster has lone ability of throwing thorns and the details of stats are as below.

Stats:

The monster is not much as used with so many new and better monster got introduced from Rewards, Untamed, Dice and Chaos Legion versions.
The melee attack it has, can vary between 1 to 3 and I find it best for Little League and Melee Mayhem and Super Sneak battles because of it's thorn ability.
The speed is also on the lower side with it starting at 1 speed which eventually ends at a maximum of 2.
A good thing about this monster is the armors it has, which will also help it last longer with thorns enabled.
Health is a bit on positive side for this 4 MANA cost monster as it starts with 6 health and it can get +1 i.e. up to 7.

Battle and Lineup:

The battle was with just 18 MANA cap and it involved the rule sets Equalizer (equal health for all the monsters) and Spreading Fury (Enrage ability for all the monsters) and the 18 MANA cap means, have to select few low cost but effective monsters along with theme monster of Spineback Turtle with my lineup as below:

Lineup:

1. Spineback Turtle:

This being the theme monster and is one of the best for low MANA cap battles because it's good health and also having armors and spine throwing ability.

2. Torrent Fiend:

Equalizer rule set made me to put this Zero MANA cost monster in Second position as I planned to use couple of magic monsters to follow and didn't want those to get exposed early.

3. Mermaid Healer:

First of the 2 magic monsters I used in this battle.

Used this particularly to have healer for Secondline monsters since this has the triage ability and we can always expect more sneak and snipe attack monsters in this kind of low MANA cap battles.

4. Doctor Blight:

Second magic monster I have in my lineup is this Doctor Blight which happens to be a camouflage ability monster and can poison and afflict the enemy monsters.
With it's 2 magic attack and scavenger ability, this will be a more dangerous customer in Equalizer rule set battles.

5. Albatross:

The tank healer for this battle is this Albatross which just costs 1 MANA and is a useful one and being a flying ability monster, it will have chances of evading the attack.

6. Angelic Mandarin:

Second triage ability monster in this lineup as there will be more sneak and snipe monsters expected to be used in the battle.
for 3 MANA cost, it gives 2 ranged attack as well and has good speed.

Opponent used Water Splinter too with monsters as Furious Chicken, Battle Orca, Pelacor Bandit, Sabre Shark, Elven Cutthroat and Pirate Captain.

Battle:

The battle was for just 18 MANA, but, it went for multiple rounds as there were healing at the front and even Second line monsters were also getting healed.
Here I go with round by round battle.

Round 1:

Opponent's monsters were all targeting Second line monsters and I had 2 triage ability ones to heal the Second line monsters and hence, in this round, it was just opponent's Furious Chicken which got removed.
Doctor Blight poisoned and afflicted it to get rid of it.

Round 2:

The Angelic Mandarin I used in the last position was able to survive the First round, but, it wasn't lucky enough to go past Second round since there were 3 monsters targeting it.
Opponent too lost Battle Orca as my monsters were all targeting the front monster.

Round 3:

The Pelacor Bandit was poisoned by Doctor Blight in the previous round and it was the First to in this round and soon after that, opponent got rid of my tank healer Albatross.
Later in this round, opponent was able to remove the theme monster of Spineback Turtle and he himself lost the Sabre Shark to make it 2-2 in this round in terms of losing monsters.

Round 4:

Surprisingly, there were no casualties in this round although the Elven Mystic was poisoned and afflicted by Doctor Blight which was going strong with each monster getting removed.

Round 5:

With Elven Mystic getting removed due to poison and Pirate Captain not able to attack due to being a ranged attack monster, it also got removed in this round to finish off the battle!!!

Questions and Answers:

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

I think use of 2 triage ability monsters and Doctor Blight did the trick along with theme monster of Spineback Turtle holding the front position for more then half of the battle.
If I could have changed my lineup, then I would have also gone for more sneak strategy, but I felt, in such low MANA cap battles, it's best to get removing front monster and have couple of triage ones to keep healing Second line monsters.

Do I like the SPINEBACK TURTLE? Why or why not?

I still use it a lot in Little League battles and Super sneak and Melee Mayhem ones to utilize it's thorn ability, but in other battles, I use Sea Monster or The Krakken as front monster.
I feel it is not being used much by even other battlers as there are more options which are better than this monster from other editions.

The battle almost went into 6 rounds even though the MANA cap was just 18 and I thoroughly enjoyed writing about this battle and hope you too enjoyed reading the same :)
Wishing many new heights to you all as we move along the near year.

Thanks and Have a good day :)
