Hello Friends,

How are you doing? I hope you did some Hive Power Up yesterday as part of #hivePUD initiative.
Well, I did my first Hive Power Up and received that nice badge from hivebuzz team!!!
OK, coming back to Splinterlands Weekly Challenge, we have a neutral monster War Chaang for this week and here I resent you the battle I fought using this monster at the front position!!!

War Chaang is an Epic neutral monster having 2 types of attack in ranged and melee attack which makes it one of the only few to have 2 types of attacks.

Line.jpg

We know it's the one with 2 different attacks, what are the stats for War Chaang? Let's see in detail.

This 6 level monster is not among the popular monsters, but still, it boasts of nice stats.
It has melee attack starting with 2 and can go one up in last 2 levels i.e. Fifth and Sixth levels.
The better thing is it's ranged attack although it starts with 1 ranged attack, but can go to 3 in Sixth level, so, using it with a summoner which boosts melee (like Daria Dragonscale) or a ranged attack (like Selenia Sky) will be more beneficial.
It's constant speed of 3 is good enough to make use of this monster at any position, but I think it's more beneficial to use this in Closed Range battle so as to utilize both it's attacks from front position and that's what I did in the battle for this blog.
As for as health is concerned, it's a good one starting with 8 and increases to 9 from second level onwards.

Abilities:

This monster has 2 nice abilities Retaliate and Trample.

Retaliate is available from level One itself and we have to upgrade the card to level 4 to get the Trample ability to be enabled.

Lineup:

Low MANA battles are always on trickier side as most of us might have experienced and I had a 20 MANA battle for this with Closed Range ruleset enabled.
The ruleset of Closed Range is best suited to use War Chaang from front position since we can utilize it's melee and ranged attack and also stabilizes the front position with it's health of 9 for the level 2 monster I have.
For this medium MANA cost battle, I used the lineup as below with ranged monsters ruling this battle from my side.

1. War Chaang:

Being the theme monster for this week's challenge, I decided to use this straight at front position courtesy of Closed Range battle.
The Retaliate ability it has, proves to be the additional plus along with it's double attack.

2. Peacebringer:

Second ranged attack monster I used in this battle with 4 ranged attack and speed of 4 with 6 health is good enough for it to be used in this Closed Range battle.

3. Enchanted Pixie:

image.png

Wanted to increase the melee attack of War Chaang and I found Enchanted Pixie more suitable for that.

4. Divine Healer:

image.png

The healer monster is positioned at number 4 to keep front monster keep going.
This also provided a magic attack besides slowing down opponent's monsters.

5. Furious Chicken:

image.png

Used this No Mana monster since I had a spare position after utilizing 2 MANA for the first 4 monsters I used.

That was a lineup I felt can do the job for me to win the battle and those were up against the opponent's same splinter monsters of Baby Unicorn, Creeping Ooze, Feral Spirit, Elven Cutthroat and Defender Of Truth.

Battle:

Round 1:

The battle had combined attack of 12 for opponent against 10 for me after all the buffs and debuffs.
Opponent had a heavy sneak attack with both Feral Spirit and Elven Cutthroat attacking backend monsters.
Round 1 saw end of 2 of his monsters Baby Unicorn and second position monster of Creeping Ooze with War Chaang contributing with ranged and melee attack and even retaliated for the attack from Baby Unicorn.
Furious Chicken from my side bite the dust in this round but saved my healer Divine Healer getting exposed early.

Round 2:

Round 2 was bit calmer with just one monster getting removed from opponent's side and that was Feral Spirit
I guess lack of a healer on opponent's side might have haunted him.

image.png

Round 3:

A monster like War Chaang having a security of healing will always blossom in low MANA battles like this and it continued to hold the front end intact and accounted for removal of Enchanted Pixie in this round.

image.png

Round 4:

It was the chance of second sneak monster Elven Cutthroat to get removed in this round as the attack got weaker for opponent with just that and Defender of Truth were left at the end of last round.

Round 5:

The last nail in coffin as for as opponent's lineup is concerned was hit by removing Defender of Truth in this round and ensured a win for me.

That was a nice one considering that, I enjoyed the usage of theme monster for the first time in many weeks since last few monsters which got featured were either low profile and less used ones or there were very highly used ones.
But, this one did a satisfactory job in this battle.
Let's get into the Question - Answer thing with 2 usual questions we are suppose to answer for these Weekly Challenges.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Well, the result shows it!!!! It was a comfortable win inspite of having lesser combined attack and most of the credit goes to War Chaang with all other monsters I used doing their bit in this win.
I don't find even a single monster in my lineup as a replaceable one with even Furious Chicken did it's job of delaying the monster beside it getting exposed early.

Do you use the WAR CHAANG often? Why or why not?

I haven't used it much, but I have used it in some of the battles specially as a back end monster to use it's retaliate option.

Line.jpg

That was the battle I wanted to present to you for this week's challenge.
I hope you are enjoying the new Azmare Dice cards.. I am yet to use those although I got couple of Legendary ones and few Gold Foiled cards.
Introduction of Collection Points and the restriction of that to restrict the level a player can reach are the highlights of this week and next few more weeks and hope you are not much affected by that.
Do provide your points on above 2 points I mentioned and also on this battle as well :)

Wishing you all Good Day :)

Thanks @grapthar, the ruleset of Closed Battle made me to select War Chaang at front since I can utilize it's both attacks :)

Have a good day buddy :)
