Every battle is important in it's own way and every card we use will decide the fate of the battle.

We always play for a win and when we escape a defeat with a draw, we will be much relived.

Here is one such battle where, I was on the losing side but just drew it as there was a miss from opponent's monster.

This battle is for the Splinterlands weekly challenge of Share Your Battle with monster Efreet Elder.

Efreet Elder is a Fire splinter monster from Rewards cards category and this is a magic attack monster belonging to rare type of cards.

Efreet Elder is known for couple of good abilities although it's on lower side of the attack with starting attack of just 1, but it's life is good with 8 as starting life.

We can see the statistics for this monster from the above screenshot.

It needs to be upgraded to final level i.e. level 8 to have a decent attack of 3, but even the lower orders also fine with 1 or 2 attack as the attack gets increased with it's one of the abilities Last standing.

Speed is not bad as it can have a maximum speed of 4 and starts with 3.

Good thing about this monster is it's life part, it has 8 lives to start and can increase to 10 in the last couple of levels and those 10 lives can be 15 once it is the last standing monster.

The abilities, as I was mentioning, are something which makes this monster a better one even though the attack is less.

It has Last Standing ability to have increased speed and attack.

It's other ability is Phase, which allows it to have a chance to avoid getting attacked by a magic monster. We know there is dodge ability to have a chance to escape from getting attacked by a melee or ranged attack monster, but Phase will even allow it to escape from magic attack. Nice one, isn't it.

Lineup:

Let's get into the battle mode and here is my lineup for this battle as this battle was with 44 Mana and had 2 negative rule sets of healed out meaning, no healing for the monsters with Heal ability and even monsters with Tank Heal ability will not be able to heal other monsters.

The other ability which is also a negative ability and it is Noxious Fumes which makes all the monsters to have poison at the beginning of round 2 and further rounds.

So, that's about the battle rules and mana cap and now, we will see the lineup I used and why I used those particular monsters

Magnor:

image.png

Since there was good mana cap of 44 and also poisoning was on, I decided to use this high life monster with good attack at the beginning of the lineup.

Another point to note is that, this is a monster with Taunt ability which will make all the monsters from opponent to attack this monster and that means, all the other monsters I used, will not be attacked by any of opponent's monsters until Magnor is removed.

Fineas Rage:

Used this another good life monster with good attack as well at the Second position since this is also a monster with reach ability and can attack from this position.

Prismatic Energy:

image.png

First of the 3 magic attack monsters I used is this Prismatic Energy and the reason for using this is once again due to poisoning as this is with 10 life and can stay a bit longer in the battle.

Spirit Miner:

The main reason I used this monster is to utilize it's swift ability to increase the speed of the monsters I used to allow them to attack faster than opponent's monsters as speed will definitely be a deciding factor in such earthquake or poisoning battles.

Fire Beetle:

The lone ranged attack monster I used because of the 4 remaining mana cap to cover after selecting Efreet Elder for the last position to utilize Last Standing ability.

Efreet Elder:

Here it is, the theme monster to cover the 44 mana cap and to occupy the last vacant position as well.

The Last Standing ability was useful for this monster to survive the last round and although it died as the last monster due to poisoning, it was helpful to draw this battle and that made me to use this battle for this weekly challenge.

And the battle is a draw!!!

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Well, it was a battle to be lost for me because of the poisoning, but Efreet Elder's Last standing saved it to have a draw instead of losing it!!!

I think I could have used another high life monster instead of Fire Beetle to have a chance of winning it instead of drawing it.

Do you like the EFREET ELDER? Why or why not?

Not really, I didn't have many opportunities to use it in the past, but, now I know that, this can be a handy monster in such earthquake and poisoning battles, I will definitely like it and use it more in coming days.

Not sure how I drew that battle, but all because of Efreet Elder.
