Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle with Sea Monster
Hello Everyone,
Splinterlands battle post link: https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/share-your-battle-weekly-challenge-sea-monster
Good day friends, hope you are all good and battling hard for the nice season end rewards for the season ending in about 5 days :).
I am in Gold 2 league right now and hoping to finish in Diamond III or Diamond II as I have done in previous seasons.
The theme monster for this week is from Water splinter and the monster is Sea Monster which is among the most used Tanks from Water splinter because of it's healing ability and good melee attack starting from 4.
It's a common card and belongs to Rewards card category.
Although with the introduction of The Krakken it might have lost a bit of popularity, but I use both whenever enough mana is available by using Sea Monster as a tank and place The Krakken last so as to switch all the attack to back end and let Sea Monster keep attacking the opposite tank.
Let's see in detail about the statistics of Sea Monster.
As we see above, it's one of the best as for as melee attack is considered with starting attack as 4 which increases to 5 from level 4.
The health of this monster is also good enough for a tank with it starting at health of 8 and increases to 12 at the Tenth level.
One stat which is a bit of drawback for this monster is it's speed which starts with minimum speed of 1 and can only increase up to 3 from level 7.
The main highlights for this monster are it's abilities in heal and thorn.
Healing let's it heal just before it attacks and thorn enables thorns for it whenever there is an attack from opposite lineup from melee monsters.
Barring the speed, it has good stats for attack and health and that when combined with it's awesome abilities, it constitutes a good tank for the Water splinter.
Lineup:
https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=c8e675cf811c7dcd13d45aa2b7488f355d7c861c
This was a low mana battle I got with 15 mana to be used including the cost of summoner and hence, I opted for a good tank and a tank healer and a speed reducer monster as in my lineup below.
Sea Monster
Creeping Ooze
Crustacean King
Furious Chicken
Sea Monster:
The tank with healing ability and can even throw thorns when leveled up to 6 is the one I used for the front position and since it's a low mana battle, there will always be more chances of winning a battle as there is also a tank healer in Crustacean King and as expected, Sea Monster helped me in winning this battle.
Creeping Ooze:
My planning was to use Sea Monster and Crustacean King and since there was an extra mana cost left, I used Creeping Ooze in second position as it also acts as a melee monster if required and helps in reducing the speed of the monsters used on other side so as to give an advantage to me with monsters I used will be getting that extra speed to attack earlier than the monsters used opposite.
Crustacean King:
This tank heal monster with even a ranged attack is also among the most used Water splinter monsters because of that ability mentioned above and I always use this unless there is healed out battle ruleset.
Furious Chicken:
Lastly, I used this Zero cost monster as a cover for the tank healer Crustacean King for any sneak attack.
That was a good lineup for the 15 mana with a healer at the front and also a tank healer to keep the front monster alive till the battle is over.
Battle:
Below is the link to the battle with that 15 mana and monsters I used as mentioned above in the lineup section:

I am also sharing some screenshots of the battle to make it more interesting as it monster got removed.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Yes, usage of healer at the front with also a tank healer made it an easy win for me which took all of 4 rounds and lack of a healer at the front or a tank healer means, even the Unicorn Mustang with nice speed and health couldn't survive.
I don't think I have any other better cards to have a better lineup than this and hence, I would say this is the best lineup for this battle for me.
Do you use the Sea Monster often? Why or why not?
I almost use in all the battles unless there is a healed out ruleset as that makes Sea Monster less effective because of it's low speed.
That was a nice battle for 15 mana cost.
