CHAOS LEGION LEAKS! FIENDS THAT COST ZERO MANA!
Okay, so the Chaos Legion cards have been teased out, thanks to @flauwy for posting all of the cards from the test server! Of course things are still subject to change, but that doesn't stop us from "healthily" speculating on upcoming metas!
Fiends are here!
For this post I'd just like to do a quick discussion about Fiends, which are zero mana cost Legendary creatures. Each Splinter will have one, and it seems they all have generic base stats of 1 melee damage, 1 speed and 2 health. Definitely much better than a Furious Chicken in terms of stats to mana cost ratio!
The Furious Chicken, which was previously the ONLY monster that has a zero mana cost, was only a Rare. The Fiends are introduced as Legendary monsters, which can be a good or a bad thing. For one thing, you'll need less BCX to get a max copy. On the other hand, the rarity of the drops will definitely drive the price up, regardless of its utility!
At max level, each of the Fiends currently have a buff / debuff, which can be seen in the pictures below.

This means that for Modern League (more on this later), we have replacements for the Furious Chicken!
Does this mean that the Chicken's price will drop?
Personally, I don't really think so. Soon after the Chaos Legion packs get to the general sale, two different Ranked modes will be available, namely Wild and Modern. Wild mode will allow all cards to be played, while Modern will only focus on Dice, Untamed and Chaos Legion. I'm gonna be focusing on building my collection for the Modern League, so the Chickens I have will be on the rental market.
Final Thoughts
There's a lot of speculation about how useful and what synergies are going to develop into the new meta. Check out @drabs587 's post on the new summoners and what it means for the Modern format.
I think the Fiends are NOT NECESSARY for advancing into higher leagues, but zero mana cost monsters that act as meat shields or just simply space for the buff/debuff are ALWAYS WELCOME.

My poor chicken is shaking in his little chicken boots at this news. I was wondering when they would adopt the Hearthstone wild/ranked model but I am curious if you can only earn DEC from modern mode or if both will award resources. 🤔
If I remember correctly, they said they might release the split ranked mode sometime in January. The devs are gonna have a Town Hall meeting tomorrow, make sure to catch it!
I'm pretty sure both will still award resources, but we're just not sure how much is the split.

I want a GOLD fiend for each splinter! Wish it wasn't legendary since the odds will be really bad to get gold ones.
