Splinterlands - GameFi and New Options

Splinterlands just went down for maintenance. If all goes well with the Splinterlands updates, when you are able to get back into the game, SPS will have replaced DEC for Ranked Rewards and Daily/Season Loot chests

This post is not to go into detail into how much SPS will be earned in Ranked Rewards changes going forward or how much SPS will be in the Daily or Season Loot Chests. This post is to get you to thinking about options regarding what to do with the SPS that you will earn.

Staked SPS

If all goes well, SPS will start being rewarded today for ranked match wins. The below screen will be revamped to include the claiming of these rewards.

The rewards will not be automatically credited to your account any longer like DEC rewards were. You will need to claim the rewards. How often you claim it will be up to you.

Once you claim the rewards, the SPS will automatically be staked to your account and start earning the going staking rate.

The current rate reflected on Peakmonsters is 34.57% APR. The underlying prices must be moving since the percentages are different on Peakmonsters vs in-game Splinterlands. This Peakmonsters percentage is made up in the form of 18.31% SPS and 16.25% Vouchers. You will also need to claim the earnings from this as well before it will be credited to your account.

GameFi

Taking your SPS and investing it into the Liquidity/Diesel Pools. As compared to the earnings from staked SPS of 34%, you can earn between 60% and 80% by investing your SPS paired with either Swap.Hive or DEC into the Splinterland Liquidity Pools.

This is over double what you would earn from just staking your SPS in-game.

I find it funny that when you click on the "Manage Liquidity" button listed in-game Splinterlands, it takes you to a TribelDex screen that states it is a Diesel Pool.

So I must acknowledge that "Liquidity Pools" and "Diesel Pools" are exactly the same or that the powers that be do not know the different between the two.

Riftwatcher Packs

Another way to invest your SPS would be to buy the Riftwatcher packs that will soon be in Pre-sale. Currently there is no way of knowing how to calculate the % return from your investment in this purchase.

If you open the packs, will the cards you get be game changing enough to recoup your investment or if you hold the packs until they are all sold out will the re-sell price jump more than the 60-80% you could get from the Liquidity Pools.

Summary

I will be diversifying into all three of these because I want to get the new airdrop from the staked SPS and also have the ability to participate in player staking whenever that is released. I also like the immediate SPS that is received from the Liquidity pools.

But I must admit that I am very tempted to buy as many Riftwatcher packs as possible because I believe they will sell out quickly. And will sell out before the Chaos packs. I would not be surprised if they sell out within three months of going on the market.
