Splinterlands - Ouch, Renting has it's Ups and Downs

avatar

There are more and more players joining Splinterlands on a daily basis. This is combination with the match rewards and loot chests rewards for the Novice and Bronze levels. There is increasing demand for cards to rent.

High Demand for Cards to Rent

Basically you need to get into Bronze I or Silver to start earning a measurable amount of DEC to even make renting a viable option. And the once you have rented affordable cards, you need to continue renting them to ensure you are able to stay at those levels.

I had rented enough cards last Season to be in Silver III. Since the season before that I had trouble re-renting cards, I did not want to have that issue again this season. You see, I only have collection power of 2,690 compared to the 15,000 needed to be in Silver III.

Silver III to Silver II

I am currently renting enough cards to barely keep me in the Silver III level with a power of 15,135. I started renting the lower cost, level one cards last season so that I would not be in a crunch during the last week of the season when the owners of the nice cards pulled them back and increased the rental prices. This happened to me two seasons ago so I had to change the way I rented to the lower cost cards.

I must keep checking peakmonsters to ensure my rentals are not expiring and that the owners have not pulled any cards back. I find that on a daily basis, I lose cards and must rent new ones.

Struggle Getting Back to Silver III

So I keep renting the cards and at the start of the new season, my season rating was reset to 500. I needed to get back above 1,000 as quickly as possible so that I would not be in a whole renting as many cards as I had rented.

Needless to say, it took me five days to win enough matches to regain the Silver III rating. There were lots of people with better cards than I had also trying to get back up in the ratings since all of the Silver levels reset the players back to 900 or below. So I had to fight through all of them before I was able to re-achieve the Silver III rating.

During that time, I did not have any reward cards in my one loot chest per daily that I was awarded for completing my Daily quest. I completed four daily quests during that time with one loot chest each for a total of two Alchemy potions and 32 Credits. This for sure did not help my collection power grow.

Fifth Day into Season Finally back into Silver III

Going on the 5th day into the Season I finally made it back to Silver III. So basically the first four days, I was renting enough cards for Silver II but did not have the rating to get the additional loot chest in the Daily quests. This plus the lower rewards of credits instead of DEC and the lower DEC per match win actually made me have a loss that I do not know if it can be made up by season end.

I have been back in Silver III for four days. During that time, I have received six reward cards for completing the daily quests. However I have noticed the DEC rewards for each win have been lower than last season, I may breakeven come the end of the season, it will depend on the Season End rewards. Until then I will continue my process of renting the lower cost, lower level cards and hoping for my wins to provide more reward cards to increase my collection power.

Only time will tell if I am making good decisions or not.

Well running back to silver is a bit tough for people without the right cards. At least during the first few days when people are fighting it out for moving back up, it generally takes time. I don't know if it's better or not to buy a few good cards that may upgrade your win rate when you want to move back up is the better choice.

I checked the cost of cards I noticed in lineups to which I lost, the cost was way above my budget.
