Splinterlands - Renting cards differently this time - so far more profitable

avatar

In a prior season, I had tried renting my way to silver only to have the cards pulled back right before the end of the season. I was only able to get two daily quest completed at the silver level before I lost the cards. At that point, the rental prices to get the same cards back had almost tripled in price. I did not have the funds to be able to rent enough prior to season end to stay at Silver.

Well, I have decided for a do over. I have been having some good matches lately and I have been able to stay above 1500 rankings for most of this week. Last season I finished with a ranking over 1300. I just have not had the collection power to get out of the Bronze levels.

My collection power is only 2,455 and this is counting today's daily quest.

My brother gave me the tip of renting a larger amount smaller common cards instead of the big cards with lots of collection power. This way when the owner pulls cards back close to the end of the season, they would be very easy to replace. Also, the smaller common cards probably would not get pulled back as often.

So I finally decided enough was enough. I rented lots of cards and I am now in Silver III

I am already seeing a different in the DEC awarded for each win. In Bronze, I was getting around 5 to 7 DEC per win. Now in Silver, I am getting from 10 to 12 DEC per win.

Being in the Silver League, I will be receiving one additional loot chest per daily quest completed and three additional at season end. Counting the daily quest I just completed, I should be able to complete five more before season end. So being in the silver league provides me with nine additional loot chests for this season.

Using this site, the value of a loot chest is approximately 44 DEC or $0.639 USD. The nine additional chests would add 396 DEC value or $5.751 USD. This plus the additional DEC per win will more than cover the cost of the cards I am renting. As I win more cards, I will not need to rent as many making it even more profitable.

My first daily quest after reaching Silver III and getting the two chests awarded me with two cards. I would say the renting is worth it. Now lets see if I can maintain the rental rotation of that many cards.

That's a pretty neat trick!!! I never have thought that! Thank you for sharing this and thank your brother from me! Congratulations with your staying in Silver!!! That's an amazing reward, specially that juicy DEC per battle!

I don't bother renting cards but have you been able to pay off your rentals with your DEC gains in-game?

Yes, the cards I rent are 0.1 per day. I was getting between 5 to 7 DEC per win prior to renting now I am getting 10 to 12. Now one win pays for renting 100 to 120 cards. I look for cards with the highest collection power at the .1 per day rate. Plus now I get more chests for daily quest as well

I may need to try this out as I've been stuck back in Bronze for a while now. Even getting a few reward cards would be awesome so I can level those up and put up a bit of a fight. Thanks for the tip!

Since I'm on the other end of the renting market, I didn't realize so much that owners were pulling their cards out at the end of the season when prices go up. This must make it very difficult to plan your returns because the big cards will get more and more expensive to rent. I think it's a good strategy to actually rent common or rare cards that can be as usefull to progress in the game.

Yeah I don’t really blame them. They are in it to make money as well. It caught me off guard when it happened but now I am planning for it in a different way
