# my 2021 Q4 with Splinterlands - Splinter Stats Season 64 Report Card

So, the year 2021 has ended together with Season 64. Now, I will be reflecting on my splinterlands journey, not the season only. I only started around August and it has been quite a journey with this concept of Play2earn which I never knew about. was I living under the rock or something? Anyways, I was researching about the crypto world and found a lot of wonders, and of course splinterlands was one of them.

Initially, I was quite reluctant to pay 10usd to play and get all the benefits that I'm getting now. I mean 10usd might not mean a lot to you, but it meant alot to me in the sense that I could have used it to buy school food. The idea of paying for games was something I said to never do. But, I thought to myself, why not just give it a shot? Since there was the idea of earning my money back. So I thought, maybe I should think of it as an investment, and I know that one should only invest an amount that you are willing to lose. But of course, no one would want to lose money right? But I was really curious about this play2earn concept and the cards in splinterlands just looked so beautiful. Wanted to try axie infinity but it was too expensive. Once I found splinterlands, I thought hey 10usd is just nice, it ain't too bad as compared to axie.

So there I was, beginning my journey in splinterlands and being confused about literally everything even though I did my own research. I had to slowly navigate my way through the community and finding out how to utilise keys and the difference between posting and private keys. I also had to save my keys as they were super important. I never learnt anything about crypto b4 so the word decentralised and wallet and keys are just so confusing. Luckily, I had 2 months to understand them and managed to get a grasp of the world of crypto. Maybe just a small percentage of it, but at least it helped me feel less overwhelmed by the information. Apart from researching, battling in splinterlands was something that I did, in order to earn some DEC and SPS.

The only thing that I regretted not doing was battling more because the new update caused bronze III to be unable to earn DEC anymore. Once school started, I was unable to battle as many times as before and the earnings just kind of stopped growing. The only revenue was getting rental fees which is quite cool.

This season, I got an epic card from the chest which I am very happy to get!! I just love collecting cards. Here, have a look at what I got from my chests.

I'm quite surprised I actually had a win streak of 8 because my streak would usually be broken at 3 or 5. Also, I have a lot of losing streak😩

As you can see, my loot chests had really little data because I did not battle alot. My captured DEC was also 0 because of the new update. Now, I am very curious what is this total ranked play earnings of 145 DEC because I gained nothing at all? Could it be the DEC I could have won if the update of not earning DEC in Bronze III was not yet implemented? No way, it can't be that much...

Cards with rental of 0.1 was pretty much not rented by people but the card Djinn Chwala helped me tank the rental because there would be people renting that card everyday. the only day people stopped renting was on 25 December. I went to check and found out that the rental fees became so low. Price of cards was also dropping so I decided to buy one card called Dark Astronomer. (1290 credits) I should have waited a few days before buying because the price dropped even more!! (1062 credits as of time of writing). As you can see, I am someone that does not really track what is happening to the market and thus I lose out on so much information. But, that can't be helped because much of my time is spent on school project. I spent really little time on splinterlands so my gains were very low. So an advice to people out there, spending time to understand the market really benefits.

Making some decent progress with airdrop because writing blog really helped me out, getting some SPT to boost it.

Chaos Legion general sale is right around the corner, and I hope I can buy at least one pack. Really wanted to buy credits using paypal (well, the irony of not wanting to pay for 10usd initially compared to now, desperately trying to add 4usd to my game spending. Oh what has splinterlands done to me 😱) but I can't seem to get the verification process to be a success. Paying using crypto is just a nono because that would mean my airdrop would decrease and the price has been fluctuating alot so it's not really worth it. I tracked the conversion of 1 credit to dec and it was 194.205 on 27 December. Then it became 210.460 on 28 December. What a difference! On 31 December, it became 196.576. Very interesting once I looked at the price graph of DEC.
