Aug. 26, 20: Walking, Dealing with the Insurance, Xbox, Dice, and Games

Another kind of rough night, at least not as rough as yesterday. Made it six thirty or so but another hour short.

Did the usual morning routine. BTC on a hardcore pullback...now I’m regretting not selling at eleven six! 😡 Se la vie.

Worked on cleaning up my email inbox some more (which generally serves as my todo list) and responded to a bunch of emails from students who were notified about our Blackboard site, which doesn’t yet actually exist.

I’m down to only two now, and one isn’t a todo so much as exciting...it’s the tracking for my new Ledger Nano X. 😁

The other has to do with the insurance...that was basically my day today, but before I go down that road, I did get out for a proper walk today! 💪 Well, not even five kilometers, so a meander. 😝

When I go by myself, I usually like to go faster and so don’t generally take the dog with me since he just wants to sniff and pee, but he gave me the puppy eyes 🥺 and so I took him with and went over to the field where he can run around.

It was an absolute scorcher today! Lovin’ it!!! 😍 Even as early as it was, I busted out the shorts...got over ninety later on. ☀️

Not really too much interesting to take pics of today. Saw a bunch of squirrels 🐿 but no Mr. Chubbles. I did get my daily sky shot, though.

We cut the walk a bit short because there were some nasty black clouds rolling in and I thought it was going to storm, 🌧 but it was just a threat and never actually did.

I really only had one primary goal for the day, and that was to get the issues with our insurance taken care of...been festering about it for several days.

Over a year ago I changed accounts and changed my autopay and they’ve been taking money out of that account for the car insurance, but then they tried to charge the old account for the house insurance and blamed me for it.

I guess it has to be changed separately. After some struggle and over an hour of waiting for them to call me back, they did end up waiving the late fee and I paid the usual balance in full on the spot (which was how it was supposed to be to begin with). A nice chunk of $2500 they’ll get for nothing, pure profit...fu$&ing leeches!

Then I was able to reduce the car insurance by a bit by reducing the PIP coverage for the both of us...not much considering we’re paying them thousands per year for the cars to sit in the garage, but lucky for them they’ve got their racket going with the government thugs.

By the end of the call they were trying to sell me a new umbrella policy that’s supposed to save me even more, but I had had enough and wasn’t interested in listening to sales pitches. They sent me a follow up email about it, so that’s sitting there as a possibility to look into, but I’m highly skeptical of “get more coverage and pay less,” there’s always a hook, a catch, a hole...I mean, their sole purpose in existing is to make ever more profit for their shareholders!

Anyway, the adrenaline and cortisol were thoroughly pumping through my veins and kept me jittery and uptight for the rest of the day.

I did try to relax for a while playing Dead Space 2 on the Xbox, but to be honest, it’s not exactly a relaxing game. 😂😱 Crazy killer mutants jumping out of the walls and ceilings trying to eat your face all the time isn’t exactly Viva Piñata. 😝

Wenche made some eggs and bacon for dinner and then went into the office to pick up a webcam, so while she was gone I did my Splinterlands swearing 🤬 and then fell asleep watching Lucifer.

No crime in my dCity today! 🤩 Getting close to another card, but I did spend a little SIM on a new Tech today. I got GMO farming. Not that I even have a farm, but I want the increased income from solar and wind that comes next (of course!) 😁☀️💨

Got all my Holybread tasks done as well. 😀 These are the actual set from today that I had to use yesterday cause I deleted the wrong ones. 🤭

Still basically in the same spot. If it weren’t for honoru, I probably wouldn’t get my arena task done most days.

Today was the release of the new Azmare Dice expansion for Splinterlands. While I can’t seem to level monsters above seven before it’s “Nope, no more, but hey, buy more cards” time, 😡 of course I had to see.

I blasted through nearly all of the DEC I had saved (the packs are seriously expensive) and got five. I would really like to level up that Earth summoner that gives everyone thorns. Probably take a load of cash to get it to any place that’s even close to useful, so I don’t know.

I think I managed to get at least one of the summoners for each splinter. I guess that dragon might be ok for like the flying/keep you distance ruleset, but otherwise meh. That legendary Cthulhu is super badass, though!

My quest for today was, you guessed it, Earth splinter, for like the third day in a row! Didn’t take me too long and I made a little progress, but still miles to go to get Champion I.
