Feb. 6, 21: BTC ATH Again, Recording a Calculus Video, Fixing a Door, TV, and Games

Up wicked early this morning, just shy of four, but despite being an hour short, I didn’t feel too bad today. I didn’t feel motivated enough to get outside for a walk, but I did make relatively productive use of my time. 😃

Did the usual morning stuff. Yesterday it was ETH pushing new all time highs, today it was BTC! Popped all the way back up to $41k, but it seems to have been fairly short-lived...the volumes were quite low anyway. Starting to see calls for $50k sooner rather than later, euphoria setting in and time to sell?

Not quite sure what my deal was, but I didn’t really want to post again. I did all the structure, like usual, with the best of intentions of going back and editing, but I didn’t and the further away it gets the harder it is to remember. I hate leaving those “blank days is history,” though...not that anyone will care to go back and read through them.

I got on with recording a calculus video. A little proud of myself for taking care of it rather than procrastinating (although I’m still behind). I covered Integration By Part for Calculus 2. It’s a fallback method for dealing with some products of functions when u-sub and all else fails.

Not exactly sure why, could be because Wenche wasn’t using the bandwidth for her work, but the upload was way faster than usual. Up till now I could expect an upload time about twice the duration of the video...this time it only took about a third! 😄

Wenche took the dog out for a walk, but I wasn’t really feeling like going. I had ulterior motives. You see, there was a cascade of problems that hasn’t been finalized.

It started with the fact that the weight of a bearing wall and a staircase were resting on beams that had cracked and were sinking... the support that previous owner(s) had put in to fix what had obviously been an issue for some time was far from adequate.

On top of that, I wanted to put my piano there on the other side of the wall and there was no way it would work...would have just fallen through to the basement, along with the upstairs and stairs likely to boot. So I built new support crossbeams and jacked the floor back up using new metal posts.

Cool, that more or less stopped the floor from sinking and allowed me to get the piano in just fine. BUT it threw the door out of alignment (not to mention cracked all the drywall that I’ve yet to fix years later 🤭).

It hasn’t really mattered all that much, it mostly there to keep the heat downstairs and the mess upstairs (it’s still all torn apart up there), but lately the cat has figured out that he can pull the door open and go up there. Not only does that let the heat out, it’s dangerous for him up there (nails and sharp stuff all over) and he brings a ton of crap down with him all in his fur.

So, I busted out the tools, chiseled out a new hole (it’s been done a few times before), and now the door closes properly. The deadbolt doesn’t work, but we can at least lock it now as an extra security and the cat won’t be able to get upstairs anymore.

Not a huge task, necessarily, but I accomplished something that needed to be done on the house; that’s more than I can usually say. 😀

Afterward I spent some time over on PAL Discord for Crimsonclad’s show and a bit of Aggy’s and snagged up some airdrops over in Tipcc.

In the evening we made some homemade pizza 🍕 for dinner and watched some more Community until I fell asleep. I had gotten all my hours (250 steps) for the day, but missed the last one, so that means I was out around seven or so. 😱

Holy crapola! That’s like two days in a row now of my dCity having both a crisis and a robbery. 🤬 WTF, mate?

Love having to tell myself to be happy with getting over a hundred SIM for the day with that more than two hundred just staring me in the face! 😡

I was actually able to get all my Holybread tasks done today. 🙂 The bot came back to life, so that’s awesome! Came time for potion refills, so got those renewed and put the rest into stats.

I’ve gotten hardcore bumped, though. Was all the way up at eighth, but now fallen back to twelve again...lost the top ten glory. 😢 Still, top twenty glory is mine (probably out of like twenty that actually play 😜). 💪

Well, it’s weekend, so the CryptoBrewmaster well is open as well. (Yes, I just used “well” three different ways in a sentence. 🤓) Got a brew done and sold out today.

(I still have the feeling these landscape pics are screwing with my posts’ appearance on desktop...need to check it, but oh well.)

Each brew now degrades the brewery, but after clicking every possible thing, there doesn’t seem to be any way to even repair it!!! 🤣 A drain on income (clearly the purpose) that has no drain...well done!

Still haven’t played any more Splinterlands yet this season, although the goal of getting to Gold is much more reasonable this time since I have a much higher starting point...have yet to understand why I care.
