Jan. 23, 20: Posting, PYPT, Games, and Teaching Calculus

Up around the usual time. Been hitting my sleep goals lately, so that’s helpful with feeling energized throughout the day.

Did the usual shebang and then spent most of the morning posting my daily post and compiling the post for the Solairitas Weekly News Update.

Once I got those done, I attended PYPT over on The Ramble. It was fun as usual. I didn’t win anything this time, but maybe next week. 😀

Afterward, I did some chores and played a little more Borderlands 3 on Xbox.

Since @wenchebakken is working early shift this week, she hasn’t been able to go out, so in solidarity I skipped my walk as well. Fine, to be honest, I just procrastinated too long and didn’t have enough time, but that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! 😝

As such, I’ve got no maps or photos or zombie stories...doesn’t make for the greatest post ever, but hey, I suppose you get what you pay for (feeling a bit under appreciated lately, but I’m going to try and not winge too bad about it).

By that time I had to get ready to go in and teach some calculus. I started a new section, which is weird (Thursday and Monday), due to MLK Day on Monday that we missed.

We covered a new concept, that of “ds” (i.e. walking along a curve). Using ds, we found the arc length of some curves and the surface area of some volumes of revolution.

These sorts of topics are touchy to teach and I have to steal examples out of the book rather than make them up because it’s very easy to get stuck in a problem where it’s either impossible to do or impossible for us at our current skill level. The curves we do are very much cherry-picked.

Steemmonsters wasn’t too bad, actually! 😀 My daily quest was Water splinter, which is pretty strong for me, and I got on a nice little win streak giving me a good buffer into Gold I (a bit past 2600). Not eyeing Diamond yet, but there’s still plenty of time in this season.

I was able to save enough for a quest potion charge and finished my daily solidly in Gold I. Rewards weren’t anything too amazing, but I did level my Screeching Vulture up to level five! 😁

I haven't bought a potion in a while. I am going to need to look into getting something in the future. I had been using most of my DEC to purchase cards. I'd rather do that then spend my STEEM.
