HiveFest 2020 gets glowing reviews

I have been sleeping a lot this year, spending more time than ever with my subconscious. I was very glad to watch the very first HiveFest. It felt like I could finally let go of the old chain and focus on the new one.

@crimsonclad was quite impressive in her animated ways, presenting NFT showroom with so much skill and making the most of her VR avatar. This special edition was presented in VR because of the current restrictions, the onset of unprecedented times brought on by COVID-19. She was incredibly resourceful to do without her presentation because of technical issues, urging us to visit the site and witness the gorgeous talent here on Hive. While others unfortunately turned their back to the public to look at their slide, Crimson was captivating me with what she had to say and the way, the way she moved her eyes was interesting, gazing to the side occasionally. It made me curious about this VR environment. I wish there had been footage of the crowd, to see how people are interacting during the presentations.

My takeaway from this presentation is that Hive is powered by sharing and gaming.

I enjoyed learning about the new leofinance.io front end, even though I still don't really understand what a liquidity pool is. I can see their token has been doing well which makes me grateful for the early airdrop, this community is a force and a huge asset to this blockchain.

@aggroed had another fascinating presentation on Hive Engine, I think it's great that he is selling NFTs to help fund this business. I have personally purchased 3 of his Farmfarmer Computer Coders myself. @themarkymark was very critical when he noticed the plan for Mythical and I paid a lot of attention to his arguments but I remain of the opinion that the Farm series are legit, although I have to admit it is very complex to predict future tokenomics by choosing how many NFTs you release as well as what price point you believe is appropriate for their category.

I personally learned the hard way with Drug Wars that I have to be careful not to get into games thinking of ROI. It stresses me out and makes me obsess about money which is both troublesome and unbecoming.

I like to hear that the Hive Engine team is working to genuinely decentralize the exchange, it is long overdue.

The 3Speak presentation was very cool although what they are doing is a bit confusing. There will be staking involved, stay tuned. There was something about burning tokens to which is always good. Don't ask me to remember the name of their new tokens but you know, by using them they should become familiar. I only have 1 video on 3Speak yet I hope to make many more. It only has 6 views...

I love 3Speak, what they do is great, I finally found out how to log in with my Hive account from their website. Register with your email first and go to the tab: Get Hive Account. Enter your username, it will tell you that this username is already taken, is it yours? Say yes. It will ask for your private posting key which you can then enter to access your full account.

PeakD is obviously doing stellar work, I love the integration of BeeChat, that's amazing! I just noticed that you have to send friend requests to open a line of communication. I simply cannot thank PeakD enough for making this blockchain ready for another year of this uncanny millennium. I have never been more proud of voting for a proposal. @Jarvie really is an outstanding person to be able to capitalize off of everything that happened early on this year. Good riddance Ned Scott and your useless UI, although I have to wonder, where is Eli Powell now?

I thought she was so Halt and Catch Fire with her southern accent.

It's crazy to think how much of this technology I understand compared to four years ago. When the chain split, I realized how much the community cared and it moved me deeply. I am forever humbled by all the hard work that went into empowering the user. People quickly get cynical about the blockchain, especially when it comes to crypto, but to propose an alternative to the current social media giants is incredibly Brave. For me, sticking around is a matter of keeping my ear to the ground. Hive is a place of impossible innovations and unlikely successes. Win or lose, it will go far.

And here I am recalling the @pinmapple guy talking about his struggles with depression just because he is such an inspiration right now to be vulnerable and fighting stigmas regarding mental health.

If there is one thing that could make this blockchain better is if more people, similarly to how I do, were fine losing curation rewards when they are inactive. Like many, I have no time to open most posts I upvote, but I still look at the header and try to guess the content a little bit. I still believe in the Proof of Brain concept and wish citizens of the world relied less on delegations and more on the fun that you can actually have, making an impact on another person's life with your full eyeball upvote. This is admittedly highly idealistic. What the hell.

The pictures you see were taken recently while snowshoeing not far from Vancouver at Mount Seymour. It was not the perfect weather but it was a grand ol' time. The photo above is giving me pandemic realness with all the gloom.

Needless to say, that Hive is always on my mind, it is a familiar place where I can appreciate how slow the masses are to embrace change, kind of like a vantage point. It's a big deal that we are the product in the attention economy, wake up sheeple, if you're the product, you might as well get paid for it. Anyway, I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I love our strength, our resilience and our desire to keep buzzing on.

I wish everyone happy holidays and all the best for the coming year. HiveFest was a blast, thank you for reminding me how much you care.

thank you so much for the kind words, and also for the beautiful pictures that hit so close to home <3

It was certainly interesting, and I did think about recording my perspective during my presentation, but the 15 minute time slot went so very quickly and I was a bit flustered that the slides (well, mostly the one big backdrop, really) weren't working, so it was just sort of dive in and wing it with the love I have for this ecosystem. I am glad it came across, even if I was just a floating torso with disembodied arms :D

The experience from your radio show really came across because I could never tell you were flustered, you made me believe that I was going to get an even better presentation for the mishap.

There were lots of technical challenges (people becoming muted out of the blue) for all involved and perhaps I would have felt it even more if I dived into VR myself. However, I'm just so happy with the result and how we all came together.

Always a pleasure, love, ha ha happy holidays!
