A beginners guide to Splinterlands

avatar

This will be a guide to explain all there is to the splinterland cards UI.
It's for the total beginner, so if you're playing this game for a while you can ignore this guide.

1 - Mana

This is the mana cost of a card, every game has a limit to how much mana you can spend. There are different kind of ruleset that might also affect if you can use even/uneven cards.

2 - Attack

This is the amount of damage the card does. There are 3 different kinds of attacks and the types are as followed:

Attack types.jpg

Melee.jpg Melee cards without any ability can only attack from the first position. There are 3 exceptions to this, which are the abilities: Reach, sneak and opportunity (I will explain these in the next guide).

Ranged.jpg Ranged cards can't attack from the first position but there is 1 exception to this, which is the ability: Close range. So it's generally a good idea to place these further in the back.

Magic.jpg Magic cards can attack from any position, depending on the hp they have you could put them in between the melee and ranged. Magic attacks ignore armor there is one exception from a game rule called weak magic.
Also magic can't be dodged with the exception of an ability which is phase.

3 - Speed

Speed determines who goes first. Speed also affects if your attacks can miss (for the exception of magic). If your card has a lower speed value, then it has a chance to miss the attack. This game has one rule which is called reverse speed, then the lowest speed character goes first and also has the highest dodge chance.

4 - Armor

Attacks will always hit armor before it drains the health (exception is magic this ignores armor). If for instance a card does 4 damage to a 2 armor card the card wont take health damage. There is one ability called piercing which does the leftover
damage to health.

5 - Health

The amount of health a card has this is a pretty basic stat. This basically gets drained when attacked.

6 - Level

The level of a creature. Cards can be leveled and become stronger, but as you just start out you will most likely be using level 1 cards. I will explain in more detail in further on guides how this works.

7 - Rarity

There are 4 rarities in this game which are as followed:

Common: Common.jpg

Rare: Rare.jpg

Epic: Epic.jpg

Legendary: Legendary.jpg

8 - Abilities

At level 1, some cards have an ability and some don't. Cards can be leveled and by leveling they can gain an ability. So the card that I used for example has the ability shield which reduced the damage it takes from melee an range atacks.

I hope this was usefull for you and clears things up a bit. The next guide I wanted to create would be the game layout and after that the abilities and game rules. If you like to get a specific guide that you would like to have let me know in the comments.
