Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - Flying Squid
Hey folks 😁 Graham here.
Welcome to another Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge. Here is the original post if you want to enter a battle yourselves.
This week we are featuring a common Water Splinter monster called Flying Squid.
I really love this card and i use it regularly. This monster has some great stats for a lowly commoner and can be used to great effect in many different battle situations !
Splinterlore
Although Flying Squid are not truly capable of flight, their moniker comes from their ability to launch themselves from the water and glide above the surface for long distances before resubmerging. These aggressive predators shoot ink into the eyes of their prey to blind them before attacking with their lengthy tentacles.
Edition: Chaos Legion
Rarity: COMMON
Element: WATER
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: Reach at level 1, Blind at level 6 and Backfire at level 10.
BLIND All enemy Melee & Ranged attacks have an increased chance of missing their target.
BACKFIRE If an enemy misses this Monster with an attack, the attacker takes 2 damage
Let's take a closer look at the stats.
This is a 30 mana level battle with all Splinters allowed except Fire and Earth.
I have 5 cards in this battle against 6!
Water vs Water
Ruleset = Aim True + Rise of the Commons.
Aim True - Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target.
Rise of the Commons - Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.
This is a great Dragon Summoner as he provides all friendly monsters with +1 magic but this will not help as i have no magic attack monsters in this battle.
First Place:
This is always my tank when playing with the Water Splinter as he has amazing stats.
Second Place: Flying Squid
The Squid is in second place to act as a second tank as it has the Reach ability which allows it to attack from this position.
Third Place: Deeplurker
Having the Opportunity ability allows this monster to attack from any poition and with his massive stats he is sure to do some damage.
Fourth Place: Dhampir Infiltrator
This monster will take out the enemy from the rear with the Sneak ability and will attack twice each time with the excellent Double Strike ability.
Fifth Place: Furious Chicken
The manic chicken is here to lay down her life for the cause again by taking a hit from any Sneak attacks.
Round 1 begins and we quickly have our first fatality when the enemies Deeplurker monster kills my Furious Chicken as expected.
Revenge is mine in Round 2 however when my own Deeplurker monster destroys the enemies Scavo Hireling which stops him repairing the enemies armour which should really help.
Sadly my Dhampir Infiltrator is then killed by the enemies Deeplurker .
Round 3 begins well with Flying Squid killing the enemies tank Diemonshark.
My Deeplurker monster then destroys Hardy Stonefish with ease!
Sadly my tank Sea Monster is then killed after taking hits from Deeplurker and Sniping Narwhal.
Round 4 begins with my Deeplurker destroying Merdaali Gaurdian.
In round 5 my Flying Squid is killed by Deeplurker but i am not too worried .
Round 6 sees no fatalities and in round 7 my Deeplurker finishes off last of the enemies team.
This was a close battle and i really enjoyed reviewing it. I will definitely use the same line up again.
Check out the Great Battle to see him in action!
If you sign up with my Referral Link and purchase the Summoner's Spellbook i will delegate you 5 cards to help you get started. At least one of these will be rare or higher.
