Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - Wave Runner

Welcome to another Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge. Here is the original post if you want to enter a battle yourselves.

This week we have the Water Splinter monster known as the Wave Runner.

The Wave Runner sees not one but two sets of prey. The first set of eyes scours the ocean for a tasty morsel. The second set of eyes looks above to the skies for unsuspecting flyers. With a powerful swipe of its tail the Wave Runner can leap out of the water and bring giant birds and dragons alike into the water where its body provides a natural fighting advantage. It's best to find land or make peace with your soul if you're unfortunate enough to face a Wave Runner.

I do love this monster and I am currently renting a level 3 Gold Foil card. With the Reach ability at level 1 he makes great back up to any tank.

Battle Info

This is a 40 mana level battle with only 3 splinters allowed.

I have 6 cards in this battle against 6!

Water vs Water

Ruleset = Divine Shield + Rise Of The Commons.

Battle Line Up + Strategy

Summoner: Alric Stormbringer

This is one of the best water summoners as it has a great ability for a lower level card. Alric grants +1 magic to all friendly monsters. When you have some good magic cards you can't lose!

First Place: Sea Monster
In first place we have my favourite water splinter tank Sea Monster.

This is a really great melee attack monster with some impressive stats and the Heal Ability.

I have a level 4 Gold card giving him 5 hit points, 2 Speed points and 9 Health points making him a formidable opponent!

Second Place: Wave Runner

This is a great melee attack monster with some great stats for only 5 mana.

I am using a level 4 card which has 3 hit points, 5 health and 4 speed. The best thing about this monster is the Reach ability which allows him to attack from second place making him great support for any tank.

Third Place: Captain's Ghost

This is another great magic attack monster I usually use with this summoner as it has 3 hit points and 7 health!

Fourth Place: Venari Wavesmith

This is one of the new reward cards which have just been released. This has the Protect ability which grants all friendly monsters +1 Armour.

Fith Place: Prismatic Energy

This is another great magic attack card I use regularly in conjunction with Alric to benefit from the +2 magic ability.

Sixth Place: Elven Mystic

This has some nice stats for a lower level card.

As you can see from my line up my strategy is fairly simple. Up front we have a strong tank with back up from wave runner and all other slots are filled with magic attack monsters to benefit from the summoners +1 Magic ability.

Battle Walkthrough

The battle is about to begin and now we get a look at our opponents line up. Sadly the summoner in use takes -1 magic attack from all my monsters which obviously cancels out my own summoners +1 magic attack! It seems like we are closely matched with a couple of the same cards on both sides but when you look at the numbers my enemies cards are all higher levels than mine.!!

This is going to be a close one 😀

Round 1 begins with the first few attacks doing no damage due to the Divine Shield ruleset. However my monsters all get good hits in at the enemies tank and at the end of the round my own Sea Monster tank makes the killing blow. Looks like I am in with a chance of winning now 😉

Halfway through round 2 the enemies wave runner monster is destroyed after taking a barrage of hits from my monsters but sadly the round ends with my tank being destroyed!

In round 3 Wave Runner takes the lead as my tank but Elven Mystic is sadly killed. However we get revenge by wiping out the enemies Feasting Seaweed monster 😉

By the end of round 4 both sides have last another monster.

Round 5 sees no casualties.

In round 6 the enemies Demented shark is destroyed ensuring my victory 😁 My enemies last monster is ranged attack so cannot attack from first position!
