Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - Respect Your Efreet Elders
Another week, another Splinterlands battle challenge, this time focused on the Efreet Elder!
The Efreet Elder is an interesting card that is pretty versatile, but requires certain battle conditions to unlock its true potential. With the Last Stand ability, it'll gain health, speed, and damage when it's the only monster left to fight. As the name suggests, it's usually used as a "saving grace" or "last ditch effort" to get a win. But what if we start off the battle with it? With a smaller mana cap battle, I did just that.
Let's get into the breakdown of a recent tournament battle.

At first glance, it looks like I'm about to take on two monsters that can deal a combined 4 damage per turn (DPT) to me, with only 8 health and middling speed. Even with the healing from Byzantine Kitty, I'm out in 3-4 rounds likely. Let's see what happens when we start the battle.
After the buffs from Byzantine Kitty kick in, and Last Stand triggers (only monster on my side), I'm left with a fast tough monster with 8 speed and 12 health that'll get healed for ~3 each turn.
Minor miscalculation on my part, with the Affliction ability hitting me, I'm unable to heal the Efreet Elder, though it didn't matter. At 8 speed I'm too fast for the Living Lava to touch me, and the magic cuts through the Shield and Armor. Once that's gone, it's another two quick rounds to put down the Serptine Mystic and the whole battle is over in 5 rounds. At the end, the Efreet Elder is left standing, and though damaged, still has 8 health - just as it started.
This was one of the more fun battles I've had recently, more of a "I wonder if this will work" strategy experiment with the Efreet Elder. As I mentioned before, it's a versatile card that can be surprising at times!
