Splinterlands - EOS Rewards and Current Market State

After a bit of vacation I am back with some more Splinterlands articles. The first one will be about my End of the Season Rewards! I will talk about my upcoming challenges and talk more about SPS and state of the card market in general. Last but not least I will talk about my strategy going forward into the next weeks.

EOS Rewards

My Season was in general pretty calm. I managed to get into my sweet spot very quickly and stayed there until the end of the season. I finished Rating Wise in Silver 2 but because my Collection Power is not there yet I only managed to achieve Bronze 1 rewards. Nevertheless I was very excited about that because it is the first time that I managed to get the required CP for this Division.

But it is always the same with me and season rewards. I managed to get two reward cards which is nice and I was very happy about. Unfortunately, they were both common but I see the bright side of things. I am already very close to get a Level 2 Pelacor Mercenary. On top of that I got 2 Legendary Potions and 2 Alchemy potions which is very nice regarding the upcoming general sale which I will talk about in the next section. All in all I have to say that I am not disappointed with the rewards but seeing other people getting legendary cards makes me feel a little bit left out. Nevertheless, I am enjoying playing this game and this should be the main indicator of a game.

Current Market State

In this section I wanted to talk about the current market state of Splinterlands. A lot of people have realized that the market is currently in a not so great shape. The card prices are going down and the DEC and SPS price seems to be on a downwards spiral. If you have big investments in the game and made them on the top, it is certainly not a great view but in my opinion it is just a tank for the longer run. While I don’t think that anything will change in the next few month I certainly believe that by the end of the year we could see a very bullish Splinterlands market.

When the general sale hits the market will be overflown with more Chaos Legion cards. This will be the time for me to buy some more of the cards that I want to use in the future. My plan is to invest into the Fire, Water and Earth Splinter as those are the splinters I use frequently. I was thinking about buying some packs to keep them as an investment but I am slowly tending away from this strategy. When the general sale hits I will probably still buy a few packs because it is fun to open them but in regards to investments I will focus the major portion of the money into cards because in my opinion CP and cards are the things that are most important in a Card Trading game.

Furthermore, I wanted to talk about the current SPS state. Right now the SPS price is not in a very good state. This has several reasons. One of them is that the whole crypto market is not very good right now. The other reason is that SPS lacks utility currently. We saw the price of SPS going up when it was announced that the more SPS you stake the more Vouchers you would be able to get. This made the price of SPS sky rocket. Now that the pre-sale is basically over SPS has almost no utility in the game again. I think this will soon change and we will see a major increase in the SPS price. That is why I am looking to stack up my CP so that there is a greater chance for me to acquire mote SPS airdrop points. Another big reason why I think the SPS price will go up is that the airdrop will be over soon which means that the SPS supply will drop substantially. With the recent news of new SPS utilities this are only bullish news for SPS and the game in general.

Unfortunately, I can not say the same about DEC. Until a few weeks ago I considered DEC a good investment because of the airdrop points. But with the general Sale around the corner the DEC value will probably lose more and more value. I really hope that the price will not drop too low because DEC is a major part of the game and a great battle reward system but I am feeling a little bit like DEC will lose some development in the future.

Conclusion

All in all I am very excited for the upcoming general sale where I am looking to stack up my CP to get into Silver 3. What are your opinions on the current market state? Do you agree with my outlook on SPS and what do you think the future of DEC will be?
