Splinterlands - My Chaos Legion Card Predictions Analysis

Before the release of the Chaos Legion expansion I made a prediction of for each Splinter. This prediction contained cards that I was thinking would do great and that would be hidden gems that a lot people would overlook or not use. Now that the expansion is 10 days old, I would like to look back on my predictions and rate them in terms of whether I was correct or whether I was completely wrong. My evaluation is based on the lower leagues, so Bronze 2 until Silver 2. And while I am aware that it could be slightly to early we can see already a trend of developments happening.

Fire Splinter

I started of with the Fire splinter at I must admit that I completely misjudged the new cards. While the Fire Splinter was a melee heavy team with quick monsters that are not heavily equipped with health the new expansion changed it a little bit. My first pick was Ifrit Rising. I was thinking that this card will be one of the most used cards but boy was I wrong. Maybe it is because this card is legendary and not a lot of people have him in the lower leagues but his market price suggests that he is a not very desirable card to have so far.

The next two Fire Cards were Tenyji Striker and Tusk the Wide. Here I am getting mixed reactions. Tenyji is obviously a starter card and is used very commonly. I think that this card is worth investing in moving forward to the next levels. With Tusk I must say that I still find him pretty cool especially because of his mana to hp ratio which is 2 at level 1. Nevertheless I did not see anybody use him so far and that is why I have the suspicion that this card is something for higher levels.

Water Splinter

With the water splinter I have trouble to put my predictions into perspective. I did not use the water splinter too much but I must say that it has its perks. Especially the new summoner which gives everybody an extra shiel point is very nice to use. My predictions were right to some degree. The Diemonshark is a very nice tank to use, especially in high mana battles. His biggest weakness are magic attacks which overgoes his armor completely. Nevertheless, this tank is used very widely so far.

The other two cards that I highlighted were the Wave Brood and Nerissa. In my opinion is Nerissa a waste of mana. She has no abilities and costs 9 mana for 3 magic damage. This is just not enough to cut it and was a complete mispick from my side. On the other hand Wave Brood is a very nice tank to put in the back line. With his Taunt ability and the Heal ability from level 3 makes it a card that I can see a lot of player utilizing in the future.

Life Splinter

Now comes the complete miss judgement by my side. Not only is the Life Splitner and its summoner one of the weakest combinations so far but the picks that I had with Prismologist and the Legendary Brightwing were not exactly as I hoped they would perform. While I still like to use the Life Splinter in some battles I am trying to avoid playing it on the broader scale. Its benefits are definaetly in the lower mana range with cards like Stiich Leech and Celestial Harpy.

The main star of this splinter is definitely the Pelacor Arbalest. With the combination with the new summoner it is a real pleasure to see how he completely destroys the enemies front line and because he is able to do 2 shots a turn it reflects into 6 damage with the new summoner. This is definitely a card that will appear in a lot of battles if you are facing the life splinter.

Earth Splinter

I must say that I am pretty happy with my predictions for the Earth Splinter. All three of my picks are either very well used or are one of the highest prices in their categories. My picks were Obsidian, Slipspawn and Queen Mycelia. Especially Obisidian I am very happy with but I must also say that this was a very obvious choice since this summoner adds plus one magic attack. The Mycelic Slipspawn is a very well used card in the higher mana battles and a very solid tank. If you put it in the first position you are able to heal it with cards with the healing ability. The last pick Queen Mycelia, I did not encounter myself very often. But I noticed that is the most expensive legendary card from the Chaos Legion set, excluding the Dragon Summoner of course. I am looking to pick some Queens up myself once the general sale is ongoing because I am expecting the prices to drop even more.

Death Splinter

With the Death Splinter I have mixed feelings. On the one hand I struggled to put together some valid picks but on the other hand my picks were very solid. The best pick os probably The Cursed Windeku. With its thorns ability it is a very common used cards in melee battles and gives overall very nice value for the 6 mana that it costs. Additionally, I think that Magi Necrosi was a very good pick. With its 3 magic damage and Snipe ability at level one it is a very good counter to almost every support unit that needs to be terminated. With 6 mana its cost is very high but it brings a lot of nice perks and is usable in any situation. That is why I will look for to pick up some of these cards as well. Where I was completely wrong is the Djinn Muirat. I personally did not see him in any battle and his price also tells that he is not that well wanted over all. This might change over the course of the weeks but I am pretty sure that there will be plenty of other and better magic counters on the market.

Dragon Splinter

Last but not least is the Dragon splinter. I think that here a lot of cards are undervalued right now. Some legendary cards even go under 10$ currently. I think this is because the new summoners are making the only dragon summoner in the starter set very much obsolete. This is why I think that a lot of people are not using the dragon cards right now. I would still say that Void dragon and Chaos Dragon would be my number one choices. Especially, Void dragon which costs only 5 mana lokks still very deadly to me.

Conclusion

To summarize my predictions I think that I was right about some of them which makes me very proud of myself. That means that after a few seasons I am starting to understand this game more and more and I am eager to learn and progress further in this game. I really think that the general sale will flood the market with more of the new cards which will make the prices drop even more. This would be the time to build my dream team and look to finish consistently in Silver 3-2. With this being said, what are your strategies for the next weeks? I would like to read some of your opinions about the current state!

I agree with some of your choices, but I think you're a bit thin on low mana options, there are some AWESOME 2 mana cards available for cheap -

That Earth legendary and the Death Sniper are two of my faves for sure.

Interesting perspective. I'm liking the magic slant in earth as well. I'm playing the unicorn with my mycella quite a bit as well.
