Splinterlands - Share Your Battle - Cursed Windeku

The following article is my contribution towards the weekly “Share your Battle” competition. Unfortunately, I am not that long involved in Splinterlands and that’s why I am not owning any Spineback Turtle. This is the reason why I wanted to share a battle of one of my favorite combinations recently. This combination is the Cursed Windeku with the Dragon Summoner which giver plus one armor.

The Main Component

The star of the team is definitely the Cursed Windeku. That is also the reason why I am writing an article about this beast. On Level one it is already very powerful in my opinion. It requires 6 mana which is a bargain for a card of his caliber. It has 9 health and 2 melee attack points, combined with the 3 speed makes him a very respectable tank. The cherry on the ice cream is his Thorns ability which makes him one of the most powerful cards on Level one in my opinion. Additionally, this card is “only” rare which makes it usable for everybody. This is another reason why I wanted to write about this card because I feel like it is underused in the lower division.

Because I am relatively new to this game, I am also in the lower divisions myself and want to show my strategies with lower level cards to be successful in the bronze and Silver Leagues. But when you are somebody of the higher leagues you don’t have to look for another tank. From level 5 on this card becomes a force. With its self-healing ability and 10 health on level 5 it seems to be very hard to break through this incredible monster.

The Rest Of The Team & Strategy

In regards to this “Share your Battle” contribution, I chose to submit the following team. As mentioned in the Intro, the perfect combination to this monster is the Dragon Summoner which gives every monster an additional Armor. This basically means that your Windeku will be unharmed for the first hit it takes which is usually from the other tank. This also means that while your tank is unharmed the opponents tank will suffer Thorns damage.
Because This tank is very powerful I chose some Magic attackers to follow up. My main idea here was that, the Windeku will hold for a long time, letting my Life Leech attackers gain enough health to withhold the attacks if my tank breaks. In my opinion the Life Leeck ability can be very powerful if you manage to secure a few attacks on these monsters.

To round the team up I wanted to make sure that the opponents back line will get under attack which is why I chose a Sneak and a Snipe Monster to fill up my board. I really like using the Silent Sha-Vi because of its relatively high health and the death elemental because it is a magic Snipe ability monster which makes armor in the back line useless.

The Battle

Going into the battle, my opponent chose the Death Splinter as well. But in contrary to me he chose the Death summoner which puts me in a better position with my armor. Within the first round, I gained a massive advantage because all of my monster were barely damaged whereas my opponent lost parts of his back line already, making him weaker for the upcoming rounds. The win was only a matter of time and was secured at the end.

Good article, I'm also new to Splinterlands, I only have 1 map so far, dropped after the season. And I like to play for the death deck precisely because of this Windeku card due to its thorns ability, which often helps to inflict additional damage on the enemy.

Interesting choice! A lot of people are going towards the Earth Splinter right now because of its magic damage :)
