Another week another “Share Your Battle” Challenge. This time around finally a monster from the Earth Splinter again. I think it is no secret that the Earth Splinter is one of the strongest in the current game cycle. Therefore, it is always welcome to see Earth monsters being featured in these challenges as it is easier to implement them into your every day battles. In this challenge we will talk about the Hill Giant. We will cover what makes him special, in what situations best to use him as well as the strategy and monsters that we will use around him.

Hill Giant

First things first, we need to talk about the Hill giant himself. Honestly, this card has nothing special to it. For 3 mana you are getting a giant tank with 6 health that is supposed to eat the damage for your other cards. With only one speed and one attack, this card is certainly not the biggest damage dealer but it still has merit in this game. As we know, every card in this game was designed for specific situations and I think this card is perfectly designed for the situation that I am about to describe to you.

Imagine you are playing a magic heavy build and need some damage taker in front to be able to absorb as much damage as possible before moving to your cards that are supposed to deal the damage. Imagine additionally that we are only allowed to play cards that are costing 4 mana or less and imagine as well that there is a reverse ruleset where the slowest cards get to attack first and have the highest chance of dodging attacks! Well what can I say, this is the perfect scenario for the Hill Giant and we are about to see what will happen!

Queen Mycelia

But before we go into the battle, we need to take a look at the cards that will support our Hill Giant. The first card to support is always Queen Mycelia! Probably one of the strongest legendary Chaos Legion Cards out there! Not only is this monster a magic attacker but it also grants additional armor to every monster. This means that if we are up against Melee Heavy attacker, the Hill Giant is getting extra protection. In higher levels this card gets additional abilities in the form of Amplify, Triage and even Rust. But also without these additional Abilities, this card is just insane to use and for just 4 mana an absolute must-have in every team!

Djinn Biljka

Next up we have the next legendary card: Djinn Biljka. I feel like this card is a very controversial one as I do not see a lot of people using this card. I think this card is perfect to use in this specific ruleset and definitely is worth it if on level 2. Why? Because on the second level, this card gets an extra magic attacking point as also the Void Ability. This means that it will take less damage from other magic attackers. Furthermore, you can put this card without any doubts into the back of the field. This ensures that this card will probably last until everyone on your team has died. This is because of his other Ability. With that being said, I think that for 3 mana, this card is an absolute must play in this specific rueleset.

Venari Spellsmith

Next up we have the Venari Spellsmith which is a neutral card and perfectly suitable for the mentioned ruleset. Because we are having the Reverse Speeds and also allowed to play cards that are below the 4 mana price, this card can actually be a very nice help. Especially, because of its Dispel ability we can delete every positive buff which can help us long term in a battle. With two speed this card is not the slowest but is still very suitable for this specific ruleset once again.

Spirit Hoarder

Last but not least we have the Spirit Hoarder. This card is again very suitable for this ruleset as it has very slow speed and is a very cheap card. In normal battles this card has also very great utility but it starts to shine in especially these circumstances. For example, this card is able to heal our last position card in case it will attacked by a Sneak Attacker. Furthermore, this card is yet again a magic attacker which make sit very powerful in the long run of this game as we can disregard any armor that has been placed on any monster from the opposition.

Example Battle

Now that we talked about the monster that we are going to use, let’s take a look whether our strategy will be successful? Who am I kidding?! Of course it will be successful! In my disbelief the opponent chose the worst summoner to play in this ruleset: Kelya. Because she grants an extra speed, this is actually beneficial to me, as I will be able to attack mostly first in this battle. Because of this I was able to defeat his first 3 monsters without even suffering any damage, because he did not able to attack yet. This means that our Hill Giant was mostly without any damage and was able to withhold all of our enemies attacks! All in all, this battle was quickly over and we moved on to the next one!
