In this week’s “Share Your Battle” competition, we are revisiting the Earth Splinter. As we all know, it is very heavily occupied by magic cards as the Summoner allows us to boost our Magic attackers. With this being said, the star of the current article will be the Mycelic Slipspawn. We will talk about its strengths and weaknesses as well as what the best strategy would be to use this card. On this not we will introduce potential card to use with this card and last but not least examine some example battles. With that being said, let’s get started.

Mycelic Slipspawn

First things first, let’s talk about the Mycelic Slipspawn and its attributes. As we are aware, this card is magic attacker, which has some benefits in general. Not only does it get boosted by the Obsidian summoner but it also can go trough armor and attack the health of the opponent’s monsters. Not only that but the fact that it can attack from any position makes the magic attacking style the most overpowered one in the game in my opinion.

Not only that but because of the taunt Ability of this monster we can place it in last place and have the benefit of our tank being spared by the majority of our opponet’s attacks! This allows us to focus the enemy’s attacks on one card and make their strategy predictable. With 10 health and 2 speed this card can take on some damage and with the right support card we can even extend the stint of this card even longer!

The only negative part about this card is its mana cost. For 9 mana it is not the cheapest card to play and requires us to have a big mana ruleset. Furthermore, it has not the best speed which might hinder us to attack the amount of times that we actually want to attack with this card. Other than that I really do not see much negatives on this card.

Damage Dealers

Now that we discussed the main component of this build, we need to talk about cards that allow us to deal us much damage as possible. Here I like to use either Grund as a tank or Regal Peryton and Magi of Chaos as additional Magic attackers. While Grund shines with his Double strike Ability, 3 Melee Attack and an incredible 10 health, his cost is yet again very high. I tend to play this card in combination with the Slipspawn only if we have truly enough mana to spend on other cards as well.

On the other hand, we also have to very exceptional Magic attackers that will get boosted by Obsidian. While Regal Peryton additionally shine with Speed and the Flying ability, the Magi comes already with a great amount of Attacks. If enough mana is available, I like to play all three of these cards as they will always guarantee me a ton of damage done!

Support Units

Last but not least we need to talk about our options with support cards. If we know that our next opponent likes to run a Melee Team, Queen Mycelia is always a great choice! With her Protect Ability, everybody will immediately benefit from additional 2 armor which will protect a big portion of the health of our cards! Not only that but all the mentioned support cards will be Magic attackers, which means that we can place them where ever we want on the board and still have the benefit of an extra attack.

On this note we need to talk about the potential healing cards that we can play! With the tank heal Ability, we can play the Goblin. He will guarantee us that our tank will get some health refreshers! This can work with either the Slipspawn up front or even with the Slipspawn at the back. In both cases we are helping our tank to live longer. On the other hand we can use the Spirit Hoarder in order to heal a card in our backline. This is obviously very synergetic with the Slipspawn if it is placed at the back of the board! As we know that the last card will take damage due to its Taunt Abiltiy we are making sure to stack its health up in order to be able to absorb even more damage by our opponent!

Example Battles

With the basic strategy out of the way, we can take a look at three example battles where we use this strategy. As you can see it does not matter whether we are facing a stronger opponent or an opponent with similar strategies. In both cases we are able to push our strategy trough. While in the first face-off our opponent tried to counter us with a Void tank, he definitely did not have the attacking force to get close to our damage rate. We were just out damaging our opponent in this case.

The second and third battle are different as our opponents chose to run a Ranged attack build. In both cases their aim was to slow us down so that they can make the first hit. In both cases it did only work marginally to say the least. Because Magic attackers, except the Regal, are very slow, we basically were hardly affected by their strategy. In fact we were able to push our strategy through.

While the second battle showed the use-case of our taunt in the last position, the second battle shows the variant where we are using the Taunt as Tank. You should also notice that I put taunts only in the corner of the board, as there is always the chance that our opponent has the Explosive Ability Card that he likes to attack with. This immediately means that he would hit two more opponents if the Taunt is in the middle of the team. With it being on the boarders we are basically insuring ourselves to not be hit multiple times.
