Sad Llama 2.gif

Introduction

Another social media challenge released and here we go with another post analyzing one of my battles.

In previous posts I talked about 02 summoners who dominate battles in the transition from Silver to Gold league, the Yodin Zaku and the Scarred Llama Mage. In the last post I mentioned how difficult it is to beat the Llama in low MP battles and presented a strategy to neutralize it in high MP battles.

I recently won a battle against this summoner with little MP available, which had several factors that complicated the counterattack, so I thought it was interesting to present it to you.

The strategy before the battle

In this match there were two active rules, Armored UP and Earthquake. In addition there were 19 MP and only Splinter Earth available. In my opponent's history there were battles with Llama Mage combined with Kron, the MP was favorable for this combo and the Earthquake rule favored the Heal skill tuned with the Last Stand. In this way it was easy to predict his strategy.

I didn't have the Llama available for use and I could only use Splinter Earth. I usually counter the Llama using the Sneak skill with several monsters, aiming to destroy Kron before receiving the Last Stand, as he usually stays in the backline. But with Earthquake in play, it couldn't use monsters with low HP/Shield, even though Armored UP would guarantee a survival round. Besides that, I had to worry about Kron attacking my front line.

The only summoner that provided a damage boost buff to my allies was Prince Rennyn:

+1 Ranged damage - It allowed me to focus on different monsters, with more damage and health.

+1 Speed - With more speed the monsters can attack before Kron, which was important due to his healing.

+1 HP - With Earthquake in play any extra health could make a difference.

Using this summoner would leave 14 MP for my monsters. One card I didn't have much doubt to choose was Spirit of the Forest.

Ranged attack - Damage that would be increased with Prince Rennyn's buff.

Flying - With this skill it would neutralize the Earthquake problem.

Snipe - Even not being a Sneak at some point he would find the enemy Kron.

I would need another card to help eliminate Kron and for that task I chose Iza the Fanged.

Ranged attack - Damage that would be increased with Prince Rennyn's buff.

Scavenger - With this ability she would gain life as the monsters were eliminated with Earthquake, neutralizing this damage.

Sneak - To find the enemy Kron.

With these two cards combined with Earthquake, Kron would take 7 damage per turn, but he would recover 4 with his Heal ability. I needed to increase this damage, but at the same time I had to take care of my front line. With the remaining 03 MP there was not much option but to put the Failed Summoner.

Magic Reflect - With this skill could increase two more damage to Kron for at least 02 turns.

06 HP - This card has a good HP gain to MP spend ratio, allowing my frontline to last as long as it takes my ranged monsters to eliminate Kron.

With 03 slots available and 01 MP remaining, I completed my team with two monsters that have zero MP cost, the Fungus Fiend and the Furious Chicken, and the Brownie with 01 MP, which increased my team's speed even more (the objective side of these low HP monsters was to feed Iza the Fanged's Scavenger ability).

Once assembled the team I was hoping that my opponent wouldn't use Kron alone, which would already activate the Last Stand skill and destroy my entire strategy. Lucky for me he didn't do this:

The battle

Analyzing my opponent's team, I realized that he feared the use of the Sneak skill, preparing a live shield with the Fungus Fiend on the backline. The active Earthquake allowed the use of this strategy, as it wouldn't have to worry about Fungus being the last monster alive.

On the front line he placed Failed Summoner, in second position Furious Chicken and Kron was in third position. Taking a look, I realized that I wouldn't be able to damage Kron in the first round, as my Sneak attack from Iza would hit the Fungus Fiend and the Snipe from Spirit of the Forest would only remove Kron's Divine Shield.

At the end of the first round I had lost my Fungus Fiend, which fulfilled its role of increasing Iza the Fanged's HP.

2 Round Rennyn.png

At the end of the second round Kron had only lost 02 HP, Earthquake had removed the shield from all monsters except the Spirit of Forest and Iza had gained 01 more HP with the elimination of the enemy Fungus Fiend.

3 Round Rennyn.png

At the end of the third round my Furious Chicken and my Brownie were eliminated by Earthquake and my Failed Summoner fell with Kron's attack, increasing my Iza's HP. Kron was still alive with 06 HP and I only had one monster that could attack him.

4 Round Rennyn.png

By the end of the fourth round my Iza had enough HP to withstand a hit from Earthquake thanks to the elimination of my opponent's Furious Chicken.

5 Round Rennyn.png

With Earthquake's damage and my Spirit of the Forest's attack, Kron was eliminated, causing the enemy Failed Summoner to activate Last Stand. My Iza gained 01 more HP, but with 02 health she wouldn't survive Earthquake's next turn.

6 Round Rennyn.png

In the end, there were 02 monsters left that couldn't attack each other, but my Spirit of the Forest was immune to Earthquake's damage, causing the last enemy monster to be eliminated in round 11.

11 Round Rennyn.png

It is worth noting that if my opponent had simply placed the Llama plus the Kron, he would have received the Last Stand buff and I would not have been able to eliminate him. You can also see that if your Furious Chicken was level 1, it wouldn't have melee damage, drawing the Snipe from my Spirit of the Forest to it, keeping Kron's Divine Shield active, which would prevent its death before my Iza was eliminated.

I hope you enjoyed this other strategy of countering the Llama Mage, this time with low MP available. Here is the battle link if you want to follow in detail: LINK

Nesta partida haviam duas regras ativas, Armored UP e Earthquake.

Sneak - Para encontrar o Kron inimigo.

A batalha

5 Round Rennyn.png

6 Round Rennyn.png

No fim, sobraram 02 monstros que não podiam se atacar, mas meu Spirit of the Forest era imune ao dano do Earthquake, fazendo com que no round 11 houvesse a eliminação do último monstro inimigo.

11 Round Rennyn.png
