Snitch - Death Elemental.png

Introduction

Another weekly challenge released this time with the Shadow Snitch theme.

I found this week's challenge to be more inclusive and innovative, as it put a card that is available in ghost decks and at the same time introduces one of the cards from the new Chaos Legion set.

Shadow Snitch has the advantage of having the Reach ability and needs little MP for summoning, in addition to the good amount of HP in relation to the MP used.

I like the Black deck, but I hardly work with a second tank when I use it, due to the scarcity of buffs that increase Melee damage (There is only one monster with Inspire - Shadowy Presence - and there is no Summoner that increases Melee damage, unless that appeals to Daria Dragonscale from Splinter Dragon). The rare times I use a monster with Reach it's a big guy with 12 HP in high MP games (The Gorlodon). But an opportunity to use it appeared that resulted in a fierce battle that I thought it was interesting to share with you.

I emphasize that the analysis of the match below is with the eyes of someone who plays in Prata, and there may be some opinions that do not fit in other leagues.

The strategy before the battle

The rulesets available included Super Sneak and Heavy Hitters and the game had 27 MP available for summoning. I decided on the black deck because the summoner Zintar Mortalis debuff, which reduces one of the melee damage of all enemy monsters, could be useful against the Super Sneak rule, in case my opponent abused it.

When starting the assembly of the team, I tried to place 02 monsters with the Thorns skill in the last and penultimate position, with the Enchanted Defender and the Cursed Windeku being chosen for this work. Behind them I placed the Disintegrator with its Demoralize debuff, seeking to further reduce the enemy team's melee attack. In the third position I put the Death Elemental with the ability Silence if there was a magic attack and as a tank I chose the Crypt Beetle, with its Shield ability and low MP for invocation. And as there were 04 MP left and I needed a Melee char to take advantage of Super Sneak, Shadow Snitch ended up being chosen.

Once the cards were selected, I hoped the opponent would come with a lot of melee attacks and... well, there were a lot of melee attacks, but his team was much more balanced than mine (and golden).

The battle

My opponent came in with Summoner Selenia Sky, which increases all allies' ranged attack by one. Imitating my strategy, he sought to defend against Sneak attacks by placing 02 monsters with Thorns in the last two positions, Giant Scorpion and Spineback Wolf, and also placed a monster with the Demoralize ability, Fallen Specter, in second position. In the third position was its most dangerous monster, The Vigilator with its Double Strike ability and being able to use both physical and distance attacks in this position, due to the presence of Super Sneak. In fourth position he placed the Undead Archer and as a tank he chose Lord Arianthus. A team that at first sight had everything to win the match, if it weren't for the failure of the positioning of a monster, which I will demonstrate next.

Right at the beginning of the first round, the Fallen Specter made his only move of the match, taking a life from my tank. Then the Wolf took one of my Enchanted Defender's shield and, the unlikely star of this battle, with his Silence skill unusable but with the Snipe skill still useful, launched the attack that eliminated the Demoralize debuff on my team, taking the Fallen Specter of the game, turning the tide of the match in my favor. Also in this round, my Enchanted Defender and my opponent's Giant Scorpion were eliminated.

2 Round Snitch.png

At the end of the second round I lost my tank and my Windeku and my opponent only lost his Spineback Wolf.

3 Round Snitch.png

Early in the third round Death Elemental saved the day once again, taking out The Vigilator before he destroyed my backline.

4 Round Snitch.png

In the fourth round it was Undead Archer's turn to be killed by Death Elemental (this guy deserves this post), leaving only Lord Arianthus on the enemy team.

5 Round Snitch.png

Without any attacks and being able to take damage from my team, the defeat of my opponent was already written and occurred in the sixth round.

6 Round Snitch.png

If the Fallen Specter was in third position this wouldn't have happened and all my team's melee attacks would have been halved. Even if he lost The Vigilator with the Thorns and Snipe from my Death Elemental, I would have lost all my backline.

Shadow Snitch ended up staying alive until the end of the game, but his contribution was used by Death Elemental, who took over his post.

I hope you enjoyed this strategy of taking advantage of the Super Sneak rule. Here is the battle link if you want to follow in detail: LINK

A batalha

2 Round Snitch.png

No fim do segundo round eu perdi o meu tanque e meu Windeku e meu oponente perdeu apenas o seu Spineback Wolf.

3 Round Snitch.png
