How beautiful the sky of Khymeria is

Because it shines through the eyes of the best air captain in all of Splinterlands, the girl who once promised her father she would sail the skies, and who today owns the fastest and most reliable airship of all, her Windrunner 2.

At the beginning of the year, I told you that I wanted to practice daytime scenes with beautiful blue skies, and Captain Katherine Windrun gives me that opportunity today by painting her, and if there is something this Splinterlands character emanates is a great adventurous personality, so I painted her sailing the skies of Khymeria, thus fulfilling the promise she made to her father on the day of his shipwreck.

🔰Process🔰

-Step 1:

As usual I started with the sketch, and this time even though it would show a large landscape behind the character I still used the 3500x5000px resolution.

-Step 2:

Some proportions of the sketch did not please me, so I decided to detail in gray to give volume to the character and have a better view of its structure, thanks to this I could correct his face, as it previously looked very wide and even with a deviated jaw.

-Step 3:

And I finally feel that I'm getting the hang of the transition from gray to color in daytime scenarios, it's a clear reminder that practicing has benefits, and if you wonder how I've managed to give vivid tones to gray without altering anything but the color, the key is to use the blending modes "color", "overlay" and sometimes "lighten".

-Step 4:

Then I focused on detailing the captain's clothes and hair, progressively covering the lines of the sketch and running the gesture of her face, since her eyes looking at the vast sky were really a headache because the pupils always looked crooked. On the other hand, the captain is supposed to be flying in her airship, so I dedicated myself to give a certain ship-like aspect to the railing on which she is leaning.

-Step 5:

But I didn't want to let her fly over the sea, so I looked for references of cities seen from the air, and I found some especially cool ones of Gibraltar and that's what I used to build Khymeria, although without detailing too much the city because I wanted the focus of attention to be the Captain.
