I started at the very first moment

My Splinterlands history goes back to the very first moment the game started, and has had quite a few bumps. Due to a not too rosy financial situation I was never able to invest very much, and even if I had managed to build up a nice collection up to 2x ... that had to be sold twice because things happened that made it necessary for me to sell.

Never give up

But even tho I had to sell ... Splinterlands does offer new opportunities! And then there is the moment when Chaos Legion is presented. And this time my situation is still not such that I can say let me throw in a few thousand dollars, but for the first time in my Splinterlands career I was able to buy 100 packs. At least, that's what I thought!

Change of plans because of the Vouchers

Until the VOUCHERS drew a line through my plans. The ability to buy enough SPS to get the required 100 VOUCHERS was missing, and the ability to purchase additional VOUCHERS… that was not available at all for me. So I had to change my plans.

Thinking in an overdrive

My thoughts went into overdrive, because of course I really just wanted to participate in the presale, but if your financial resources do not allow that, then you have to make choices. I certainly didn't want to give up in Splinterlands. After all, this game has a lot to offer, and many opportunities to earn. So a change of plan!

Settle for less!

Not 100 packs, but settle for less. I could also choose to wait until the moment you no longer need vouchers, and that is still my plan, but I also wanted to have my first Chaos Legion cards immediately on December 8th.

Still joining in the fun of opening packs

Now I had to choose what I was going to do, whether I would buy the packs with VOUCHERS from the airdrop, or whether I would sell my VOUCHERS and then buy packs through Hive-Engine. What are the pros and cons of this strategy? Well, the future airdrops of course! Little chance of a legendary summoner! But on the other hand, Splinterlands has already made it clear that there are conditions attached to the airdrops. That for every airdrop the conditions differ, and with the few packs I can buy, it might not be wise to assume that I will ever get a Legendary Summoner dropped into my account. Keep in mind that I have never been so luck with airdrops from Splinterlands… so my choice was made. I would now be content with a considerably smaller number of packs, not 100 but only 15! And I bought these packs through Hive-Engine … So I didn't have to invest new money for it. On the contrary, by selling my VOUCHERS I was able to save some money. And I don't miss all the fun of opening packs.

I never had the luck of Legendary Gold Foil Cards

Because even with opening packs you have to know, I've never been so happy ... The Legendary Gold Foils have never come flying my way. Unfortunately, if only the story had been this beautiful.

So today it was "Pack opening day"

Anyway, today when I woke up I started opening the first 5 packs. Feeling like a kid in a candy store!

I found a Legendary monster!

And there was a nice Legendary card in the fifth pack. The 0 Mana Legendary card from the Water Splinter. In the other packs I found a Gold Foil Death Summoner, a Gold Foil Mycellic Slipspawn and I can also be called happy with the Goblin Psycic. Unfortunately, Obsidian wasn't in my packs yet.

I bought Obsidian

But, by selling my regular Thaddius Brood (no, not the Gold Foil), I have now also bought Obsidian. A perfect counterpart to the magic of the old Water Splinter! It looks like in the Modern version of the game the earth team will soon become a favorite of many people because of the Magic possibilities that Obsidian gives you. And if you consider that you can also have 2 healers who both also use Magic. Then I think it's a no-brainer for many people to play with this team. Of course I'm only talking about level 1 cards here. I don't have them any higher...

Furthermore, I really enjoy playing now, I play in the bronze league itself… that's where you notice that people have to get used to the new Chaos cards. It takes a while to find the right team now! And that makes the game more interesting now.

Slowly I hope to be able to build up my collection, without having to break it down because life gets in the way again.
