Splinterlands Art Contest Entry

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I decided to enter the Splinterlands art contest with a traditional art drawing of our newest dragon summoner Quix the Devious with colored pencils and a bit of a fineliner.

As a reference I am using the original art of the card (which is just awesome):

I start up by sketching out a rough sketch with a H pencil:

Now is the time to choose some of the colors we will be using to start off the base layering so I did a swatch with the pencils that I have at my disposal:

Now that we have some colors we are happy with it's time to start layering the base colors very lightly:

Now it's time to start adding some more color and some detail to the piece, I start off with the face which is the center of the drawing:

At this point I had a terrible yellow ink spill from my brush marker (which was the first time using it btw - yay) , while trying to add some detail to the eye. I debated on starting over but decided to go with it and try to finish the drawing to the best of my abilities despite the mishap.

A few hours in and we are nearing the final stretch of the drawing:

And here we are at the final piece, I think I managed to get the most out of my supplies (I wanted to go with much more saturated colors but the pencils I have go this far):
