Holy heck - rollercoaster thursday on the markets - heres what I did to try and have a careful day in the investment sphere

Well what a day its been. I said roller coaster, but thats not really true, there weren't so many ups, it was more like a plummeting elevator. I dont really consider myself a crypto or investment 'trader' - I'm more of a long term accumulator. I'll accumulate now, and hopefully that means I'll profit sometime in the future (ie, at least 5 years away).

So heres what I did today:

1 - I didnt panic,

2 - On monday morning I made the decision to withdraw all of my HBD from savings. That became available this morning, and I cashed it all in for HIVE at about the 0.38 HBD/Hive mark,

3 - I powered up a small amount of my new HIVE to HP, and decided to keep the rest as liquid,

4 - I did some calcs in excel of how I can DCA back into HBD as the price rises again with the aim of at least doubling the amount of HBD I exchanged (if it takes a while to hit the right numbers, then thats ok - I have time). I will start buying back in small portions say at from about 0.55 HBD/Hive, and then some more at 0.60, etc. I'll keep the HBD liquid for a while, including any other post payouts I have in the interim, incase there are more fluctuations to take advantage off,

5 - I've been saving LOLZ to get to the 512 mark to earn daily dividends, so I placed an order for the rest I need to achieve that (I've got liquid HIVE now !),

6 - As far as the HIVE ecosystem goes, I decided not to make any other rash changes today, just sit it out and see where things go over the next few days,

7 - I also have some mainstream crypto holdings, mostly held in Nexo for the daily interest. This includes some Luna (maybe $25 worth - no biggie). I did nothing with this, I'll just HODL on through collecting daily interest,

8 - I also invest in the stock market via Fidelity. I try to DCA in each month when I have some spare funds. I did that today and bought some MCCOA. Its basically an ETF - Blackrock Continental European Fund D Acc. It had been doing quite well last year, but its down at the moment, so I figured it was worth chucking some spare cash in while it is at a good price, as I'm confident that over the long term it will return,

9 - I took the same amount from my savings as I used to buy into the ETF and will make an overpayment with it on my mortgage tomorrow. I also try to do that when I can so that I'm paying of the capital quicker, and hence paying less interest overall over the term of the mortgage.

10 - I poured a jack daniels and coke - good end to the day !

So I think I had a nice safe day, not panic buying or selling - covered a number of angles, spreading things out for safety. It seemed like a good approach to me. I hope you all had a safe and careful day too.

All the best from Scotland @hoosie - Cheers !

P.S. I took the photo of the Rollercoaster when I was in Blackpool in April. That particular one used to be called the big dipper - which is probably quite apt for today !
